Hello and welcome to Wikipedia

[edit]

I realize you are new here and I don't want to discourage you from editing, but I noticed your editing at 2022 United States Senate election in Vermont and your creation of User:JohnLocke1632/sandbox/Gerald Malloy. On Wikimedia Commons, you have uploaded photos of Gerald Malloy asserting them as your own work. Therefore, I ask you this rather pointed question: Do you work for or volunteer for Gerald Malloy's election campaign or do you have any other close relation with Gerald Malloy? If you do, you must disclose for the readers to see. Cheers, SVTCobra 22:48, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Heavens no, I don't work for his campaign, nor the Malloy's, I don't know him or the family personally. I do live in Vermont and saw him speak at a VFW event in April and had been thinking about this for a few months. I thought to put the information up after researching his background and keeping track of his progress as he gets endorsement and campaigns in the state. This sandbox work about him will most likely never see the light of day as I have gleaned from a comment which is bordering on rude from "teahouse" which leads me to thank you very much for your well worded straightforward inquiry. I have been thinking to simply delete the page but it's still in the sandbox here due to my slight hesitation about the amount of time it took to do, and my personal need to get past the "teahouse" comment, but am aiming to do so. Kind Regards, JohnLocke1632. JohnLocke1632 (talk) 16:36, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Even if you're not personally affiliated with him or his campaign, please follow Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, especially WP:NPOV and WP:UNDUE, since most of your edits are only about this one candidate and you have written things that can reasonably be seen as promotional. —twotwofourtysix(talk || edits) 04:42, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for pointing out my photo error as well. I have corrected the photo reference, I did not take the photo. It was on his original website and is not on his new one which redirects from the original site link. . . . it will all come down anyway. JohnLocke1632 (talk) 17:53, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, since you did not take the photo and Malloy's website has a copyright notice, I had to tag the photo as lacking permission. Commons does not accept copyright protected works. I think it is a pity, however, that you blanked the sandbox. I would consider restoring it because if Malloy wins the Republican nomination for Senate, I think he would instantly meet notability requirements, though I don't spend to much time on political pages on Wikipedia. I saved my work pulling it out of wiki and archiving it, so if indeed he does win I can easily restore it. And your words give me courage to try again. I had corrected the photo information in my sandbox area before I took the page off. When you reminded me of the detail with the photo, I went through their website contact information for permission to put it into wiki commons, they agreed in writing. I don't know if that is good enough but thought it might suffice. If he wins the nomination I will try again.I saw him as an underdog as the GOP at the event a the VFW that I took a disabled friend to, I saw how the GOP members treated him with such disrespect. My elderly friend was quite upset. I just quietly watched what they were doing to him at the event. It spurred me to write about him here. I hope he wins. He's working very hard in the state. —I have never really been into politics either. Thank you very much for your encouragement. JohnLocke1632 (talk) 19:25, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you have permission, please send it to VRT (volunteer response team) by clicking the blue button that is on the photo's page. VRT will tell you if what you have is sufficient or if Malloy's campaign needs to send an e-mail from his official domain. Cheers, --SVTCobra 19:42, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Time ran out on the photo; it's been deleted. You have quite the knack for finding obscure organizations who endorse Malloy. Cheers, --SVTCobra 16:46, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Gerald Malloy won the nomination. SVTCobra 03:57, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I believed he would in spite of all the obstacles that were put in front of him. I've been keeping track of his progress. JohnLocke1632 (talk) 19:49, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
