Image copyright problem with Image:ColinFranklin.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ColinFranklin.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. Actually, the picture is clearly in the public domain (whatever the museum claims) since the gentleman died in 1880, and any photograph taken more than 120 years ago is public domain even if we don't know who the photographer was. Further to the above standard message, may I make the following comments:

If you wish to oppose the deletion, may I suggest that you leave a comment on the Articles for deletion/John Willison (musician) page.
Merely stating that he is notable is insufficient - you need to provide reliable sources of information that can be used for citations. The important word here is reliable - I strongly suggest that you read the guidelines that are linked to here.
When I placed the PROD, I had listed the only reliable source of information that I could find with a quick search of Google - the staff listing of the institution where he currently works. All the other hits on Google were either on other wikipedias or websites that use a feed from wikipedia (generally called wikis). These in themselves are not counted as adequate evidence of notability, as they are only using the article, not giving new, verifiable information.
Good advice on the notability of musicians can be found at Wikipedia's Guidelines on Notability of Musicians.
From the Wikipedia Guidelines on Reliability of Sources: In general, the most reliable sources are peer-reviewed journals and books published in university presses; university-level textbooks; magazines, journals, and books published by respected publishing houses; and mainstream newspapers. Electronic media may also be used. As a rule of thumb, the greater the degree of scrutiny involved in checking facts, analyzing legal issues, and scrutinizing the evidence and arguments of a particular work, the more reliable the source is.

Make a note of them on the Articles for Deletion talk page mentioned above.

Please do not take this process as a personal affont - we value all contributions, but as I am sure you will appreciate, these need to follow the guidelines of Wikipedia!

I hope you can improve the article as mentioned above - I could not find the sources of reliable information, which is why I nominated it for deletion.
