Writing articles
Miscellaneous

A tag has been placed on Katy Prairie Conservancy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. McWomble (talk) 14:57, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of Interest

[edit]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Katy Prairie Conservancy, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. McWomble (talk) 14:57, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Katy Prairie Conservancy, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you.--♦Tangerines♦·Talk 15:57, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, as you did at Article. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you.--♦Tangerines♦·Talk 15:57, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the previous message as on reflection it clearly isn't relevant. Please note that I've added an "in use" tag to the article though as it needs quite a lot of work doing on it to format it in the correct wikipedis standard. Please bear with me while I edit the article and wait until the tag has been removed before editing it again. Thank you.--♦Tangerines♦·Talk 16:15, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted the two edits you made on the above article earlier today. There is no need to enter for images on any article who took the photograph.--♦Tangerines♦·Talk 17:30, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your message and no worries, glad to help. With the photography, it is best to put the photographers name on the original image where it is located (such as on this - Image:KatyPrairie greglavaty wiki.jpg). --♦Tangerines♦·Talk 18:39, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
