Categorization of plants

[edit]

Hi! Welcome to editing Wikipedia. I've undone some of your edits adding province categories to plants (no worries) - there's a system of categorization that we use at WP:WikiProject Plants that you can read more about here: WP:WikiProject Plants/World Geographical Scheme for Recording Plant Distributions. Essentially if a plant occurs in several provinces, instead of listing categories for every province, we would use a regional category like Category:Flora of Eastern Canada, and if it occurs across much of North America we just put it in Category:Flora of North America to help reduce category clutter. Wikipedia is really not great at storing distributional data, but this is the scheme that the community has settled on. Let me know if you run into any questions, or feel free to ask at the WikiProject Plants Talk page. When you leave a comment you can sign your username by typing four tildes (~~~~), which will automatically insert your username and the date. Again, welcome! :) —Hyperik talk 15:49, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
