AfD nomination of Mapic

[edit]

Mapic, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Mapic satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mapic and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Mapic during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Pigman 17:19, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added my support for the Mapic article. Please do not get discouraged, the trouble is that we get loads of articles on obscure events, bands, people, ..., which have to be deleted to maintain some kind of encyclopedic standard here. Sometimes people (me included) wrongly think that an article about something they haven't heard about and which does not yet have the reliable independent sources every good article should have, must be about something not worthy of an article. Often they are right, but the trouble is those times, like now, when they are wrong, and a few minutes time (and some Googling experience) could have learned them this. I hope you will stay around and let this bad experience not taint your image of Wikipedia too much. It has many nice aspects as well. Fram 14:29, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, thanks for your support and your encouragement. I did (and do) find it very very frustrating that I have taken a significant amount of time and trouble to add to this resource, about an event (which although relatively small, is most definitely important to the 9000 people who attend it!) and only to have it totally shot down by people who have not taken the time to consider or understand it. What is more, the same person who originally flagged it went through on teh same day and flagged ALL RELATED articles also for deletion! Many of these are articles that I myself certainly regularly use, and as such I am certain many many others do too! I think this editor has an agenda, and I dont like that! Thanks again, though, for your encouragment. I will try to add to it/ modify it as per the rules of the project! KnightStrider 13:33, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:BlogRadioLogo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:BlogRadioLogo.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? feydey (talk) 15:01, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free files in your user space

[edit]

Hey there KnightStrider, thank you for your contributions. I am a bot, alerting you that non-free files are not allowed in user or talk space. I removed some files I found on User:KnightStrider/BlogRadio. In the future, please refrain from adding fair-use files to your user-space drafts or your talk page.

  • See a log of files removed today here.

Orphaned non-free image File:BlogRadioLogoBackground.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:BlogRadioLogoBackground.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
  • If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.
  • To opt out of these bot messages, add {{bots|deny=DASHBot}} to your talk page.
  • If you believe the bot has made an error, please turn it off here and leave a message on my owner's talk page.
