July 2023[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Apparition11. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Santa Fe Relocation have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 17:25, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Santa Fe Relocation. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. {{replyto|SilverLocust}} (talk) 10:37, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to Santa Fe Relocation, you may be blocked from editing. Adakiko (talk) 10:39, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, can we talk? I'm an expert with regards to the history of Santa Fe Relocation and the current content is completely wrong. I'm not an expert at writing but my changes are 100% accurate. And I certainly don't wish to promote the company. Kvnocnnr (talk) 10:43, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Kvnocnnr: Well, one part that stuck out to me as promotional was "Santa Fe Relocation, now recognized as one of the world's most respected global mobility providers, serves clients worldwide through its network across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia."
Do you happen to work at this company? If so, also keep in mind that editing with a conflict of interest is strongly discouraged on Wikipedia. (And any paid contributions must be disclosed.) Either way, you can discuss the edits at the article's discussion page, Talk:Santa Fe Relocation.
Also, keep in mind that any assertions should be supported by independent, reliable sources, even if you have personal knowledge of the subject. {{replyto|SilverLocust}} (talk) 11:32, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Aha, that explains it then. I did a few rough drafts offline and I didn't add the correct version. I'm interested in Global Mobility companies and i think most are spot on on wikipedia. But the Santa Fe one drives my OCD mad as it's not correct. I will add my latest version in a sec and hopefully it will be ok. 147.12.250.42 (talk) 11:48, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
To be clear, you do not work for Santa Fe (such as in its marketing, Santa Fe Group Marketing)? {{replyto|SilverLocust}} (talk) 11:58, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I'm not prepared to disclose who I work for but rest assured I'm simply practising my research and writing skills. I know a lot about this company as I'm a big fan of the Global mobility industry. I have re-edited the history without citaion for now as that takes a while to do. If it's approved I will add citation. Kvnocnnr (talk) 14:18, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I have made some updates but it is still saying there are major issues with the page. What can I do to address these issues. I have read through all the wikipedia documentation and I can't work out what is wrong. I am also working with my 15 year old son on this as he has an interest in Wikipedia—so it would be good to let him know what we/he can do to improve it. We're doing this research project together. Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use, as you did at Santa Fe Relocation. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.

Request reason:

Santa Fe Relocation has been providing Global Mobility services for over six decades. Established in 1959, the company opened its first European branch in Germany under the Interdean brand. In 1980, Santa Fe Relocation Services launched in Hong Kong, followed by mainland China in 1980. In 1998, EAC acquired and listed the firm on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. In 2012, Interdean was acquired, with London becoming the global headquarters. They launched their Americas Service Centre in Houston, Texas, that same year. Santa Fe Relocation merged its regional brands into one single identity in 2015, followed by a subsequent takeover by Swedish-based investment firm Lazarus Equity Partners in 2019. They launched a separate consumer-focused brand called Sanelo in 2021 to serve its private customers.

Several companies amalgamated to form Santa Fe Relocation, with the oldest being Interdean, which was founded in Germany in 1959.
Hi, I can see why my original edits may look like I am affiliated with Santa Fe. I will explain what I've been doing and why my original amendments were wrong—I can see this myself now. I know a lot about global mobility companies. Still, I chose Santa Fe as I know a bit about them because my company used them in the past (and other mobility companies too). We no longer use Santa Fe. I work in the global mobility department for a large corporate company. My son is doing work experience with me. He loves computer science. One of the topics they cover is AI and another similar topic is Wikipedia, albeit not as complex. So I gave him a project where we could work together. We used ChatGTP to generate a rough framework based on my knowledge and stuff pulled from the internet. I'm not great at English, so we asked ChatGTP to make it sound as professional as possible, and that's when the promotional stuff was added. I have never used Wikipedia before, but I tried to make it as accurate as possible and thought I caught any promotional stuff. I'm sorry I missed stuff. I enjoyed editing Wikipedia with my son, so I'd like to give it a go sometime in the future. Now that I understand what I can and can't do, I promise to adhere to your rules and give them some additional reading to ensure I know everything. I didn't want to edit a few words with him as I think he would have felt he hadn't done anything. We worked on the final edit ourselves and we were pretty proud. Once again, I promise I will not make the same mistake in the future. I can't say this has happened to my son as he will be upset and they have to show some of the stuff they've done as a presentation (I'm not sure if he'll show this). Anyway, I hope to hear from you soon, and I'd love to continue using and adding to Wikipedia where I can—it's an amazing site and I use it all the time for reference. Decline reason:

We don't want articles written with AI, we want humans to write them. If your English skills are insufficient to do that, you should edit the version of Wikipedia that is in a language you are more proficient with, there is nothing special about the English Wikipedia. I must say your English seems fine to me, though. You seem to be saying that multiple people have access to this account, which is not permitted, each account is for the exclusive use of a single person. Your son will need to create his own account for his own use(but he shouldn't until this block is removed). Even leaving those two issues aside, you'll need to explain how your future edits will be consistent with the conflict of interest policy(as you are editing about a company whose services your company used) and explain why you were reluctant to simply say "I don't work for Santa Fe". I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 09:16, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hi, hopefully I am adding this in the correct place and in the correct way. I only used AI as I was showing my son how Chat GTP worked. And when I say AI and my English I meant that I use Grammarly and Quilbot as well. I definetly will not use AI to make any future edits—I compleyely agree with you. I just tried to mix too many things together and it simply hasn't worked out. Only I have access to this account. My son was mirroring me last week on his school work experience. i don't do this sort of thing in my day job so i thought this was the best way to show him how wikipedia works. I 100% confirm it's only me making these edits and simply showing him what I'm doing. And he has made the odd suggestion. I hope that clarifys this up about multiple users as this is my personal email email address. My son liked what he say so there's no doubt he will create his own account. He's off now on summer holiday school break but I'll let him know he should be the only person to use the account he creates. I hope this clarifies my understanding of not sharing accounts with other people. My future edits will be 100% in line with the conflict of interest policy. I completely agree with it after reading it for the secnd time and I have no intention of making any edits for the company i work for or suggesting it to the company (even though I can spot a few errors on their page). I browse wikipedia daily so this has made me more confident to suggest errors in the future where I can see that I can improve something. Therefore I'd really appreciate being unblocked as i think i can contribute to the community. So I whole heartidly swear that i will make sure all my future edits will not cause any problems and I will stick to your guides which are very thorough and self exlanatory. You have my word and all i can do is apologies becasue now that i read back on my comments I can see i was being arrogant. It was quite stressful last week at work with my son their so all i can do is say sorry that the week probably got to me and made me tired. i know this is not an acceptable excuse but please be rest assured I will be mindful in the future—I promise. This is why I was reluctant—I was tired and I'm sorry. I only got 50% of my work done last week as i had to explain everything to my son in detail as he needs to do a presentation over the summer holidays. And I guess I was stressed that I'm a few days behind. the main thing is that he learnt loads and he had a good time so all I can say is that i'm really sorry and i'd really appreciate being reinstated. Many thnaks for your time and I hope to hear from you whenever it's conveinient for you. Kvnocnnr (talk) 11:50, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I do not believe this user's claims that they are not connected to Santa Fe Relocation. I think it's pretty apparent from their contribs, but CUs can see more blatant evidence in the paid-en queue at ticket:2023072110011259 GeneralNotability (talk) 15:57, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
