Welcome!
[edit]Hello, Leonardiestate, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Draft:Oliviero Leonardi, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

- Hi there - I just finished editing the article on Oliviero Leonardi. I do not represent the artist (as he passed away in 2019). I am not directly affiliated. I do have a lot of archive on him which I have uploaded to archive.org (as previously advised by another wikipedia editor). Please let me know if there is anything to edit. All 25 references are from serious sources. Leonardiestate (talk) 15:47, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
- Your username indicates you represent the estate which would be a COI. How did you come to acquire his archive. Please don't create multiple versions of the article as only one will be reviewed. Star Mississippi 15:49, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
- Ok, no problem. The version in my sandbox was to try. I understand that you will review the other one. Thank you.
- The archives on the artist were given by Oliviero Leonardi to his life partner, who is my great aunt. There is no estate per se, no foundation, etc… we just want to put his bio online backed by serious sources as we think he was notorious.
- All statements there are backed by sources. Leonardiestate (talk) 15:54, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
- That's a connection still worth disclosing.
- Edit the draft with the best independent sourcing you can find and re-submit it. I have redirected the sandbox there. Star Mississippi 16:58, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. I confirm the sources I have are independent: old newspapers, Oxford dictionary, third-party, previous exhibition catalogues, identification documents issued from government, etc... The article is already submitted with independent sources. Let me know if you are reveiwing or if you need me to re-submit? Leonardiestate (talk) 17:20, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
- I will not be reviewing it, but I have restored the prior declines which should not be removed until/unless the article is accepted.
- Sources such as this are not independent and may be a copyvio, but I'll leave that to someone else Star Mississippi 00:53, 5 February 2024 (UTC)

I have sent you a note about a page you started
[edit]Hello, Leonardiestate. Thank you for your work on Oliviero Leonardi. Netherzone, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:
He is notable, however many of the sources are not reliable as they are primary, self-published sources (such as his CV which is used well over 20 times; and some pay-to-play publications.
To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Netherzone}}

- @Netherzone: Where should I be addressing your comments on the Oliviero Leonardi article? I will just do it here progressively but in any case let me know if there is a more efficient way to address. Thanks for spending time on this by the way
- On the ID card source (https://archive.org/details/ol-id/OL%20Associazione%20/): this archive includes 3 cards: an army card, an ID card and an Associazione card (professional association). The ID card provides confirmation that he was born in July 1921 (contradicting the day of birth in the Oxford Benezit which states July 1926). The army card was provided to evidence that he was a parachutist in the Italian army (184th regiment), released from duty (data del rilascio in the card) on March 3rd, 1943; I saw that you deleted this so I leave it up to you to check again the army card.
- I saw you deleted a large numbers of exhibitions and flagged some sources as not adequate. I will come back to you on this within the next few days. Thanks. Leonardiestate (talk) 23:21, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, just wanted you to know I've seen this message, and will be getting back to you, probably after the weekend, on ways it can be improved, and why maintenance tags were placed, and when they can be removed. If you don't hear from me within the week, please do ping me. Because of your COI, you should not edit the article directly. Best regards, Netherzone (talk) 23:29, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
- Dear @Netherzone, hope you are doing well. I just wanted to follow up on the above. Best Leonardiestate (talk) 13:57, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, and thanks for the reminder about this article, I got busy with some things in my off-Wiki life.
- To answer your questions about the maintenance tags, I was able to fix and remove the "orphan" article tag. But I will need your help with the primary sources tag, and the associated citations that read "better source needed." Here are some questions for you:
- This sentence,
Leonardi was born in 1921 in Vezzano, Trentino in Italy.
is sourced to an identification card from the Associaiône Nazionale del Libero Pensiero. How does such an ID card back up the claim of his birth date and birth place when it does not include any of that information? - The sentence that reads:
He was a member of a family of ceramists from Trentino, learning skills and spending time during his youth in his father’s kiln.
currently has three sources. The first source is a "pay to play" publication, I am pretty sure it's native advertising, where artists or their gallery can buy a page spread or a two-page spread to advertise. This type of sponsored content or branded journalim is designed by the magazine itself to have the look of an article, but it's actually a paid-for ad. If it was removed, along with the tag do the other two sources back up the claim about his family and father's kiln? If so I can remove that source entirely or remove the claim about his early life. - This sentence is entirely sourced to that same low-quality citation:
After the war, he spent 6 years on the island of Capri where he devoted himself to philosophical and artistic studies, discovering oriental philosophy, and esoteric symbols of primitive languages.
. Can you provide a better source for that claim, such as a newspaper article, or a book that is fully independent? If not, I will remove the claim and the associated reference, along with the maintenance tag. - This sentence:
His artistic research focused, among others, on the subject of cosmogony and was influenced by surrealism, notably from Max Ernst and Antoni Tapies.
is sourced to a database which is user-submitted content. If there is a reliable source that backs up that he was notably associated with Max Ernst and Antoni Tapies, and cosmogony, please provide it. Otherwise, the sentence and the source should be removed. - This sentence
German art historian Gustav René Hocke wrote a monograph on Leonardi in 1978.
appears to be sourced to an unpublished manuscript that you uploaded. There is no record of a book of such a name being published. - Can you provide a source for this sentence?
Leonardi was commissioned to create works for public spaces, including the subway of the Municipality of Rome
? I see a photo, but it is unclear if it is permanent public artwork, or a temporary installation. Do you have more information about it? Was there an article or review published somewhere about the mural or commission, or even a press release?
- This sentence,
- Looking forward to hearing back from you on these matters, hoping that some, if not all of them can be cleaned up. Netherzone (talk) 16:02, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thx. I will reply during the course of next week. Leonardiestate (talk) 11:47, 10 March 2024 (UTC)

If this source is not acceptable, you can use the Oxford benezit, which states that "he was raised in the presence of firing ovens". Source: https://www.oxfordartonline.com/benezit/display/10.1093/benz/9780199773787.001.0001/acref-9780199773787-e-00107821?rskey=qXrutQ&result=1 - This sentence is entirely sourced to that same low-quality citation:

If there is a reliable source that backs up that he was notably associated with Max Ernst and Antoni Tapies, and cosmogony, please provide it. Otherwise, the sentence and the source should be removed. OK to remove reference to Ernst and Tapies, such influence are subjective anyways. On Cosmogony, most of the art critics refer to it, such as https://archive.org/details/fontana_202402 on page 3 - This sentence

appears to be sourced to an unpublished manuscript that you uploaded. There is no record of a book of such a name being published. Hocke wrote a monograph on the artist, which was not published with a ISBN as it is the case with many monograph. The monograph was translated in Italian, Fench, and English. Such source for example evidence the work of Hocke on Leonardi: https://www.google.com/books/edition/Two_in_one_Special_Edition_of_the_Intern/0iI4AAAAIAAJ?hl=fr&gbpv=1&bsq=bibliography+rene+gustav+hocke+leonardi&dq=bibliography+rene+gustav+hocke+leonardi&printsec=frontcover - Can you provide a source for this sentence?

? I see a photo, but it is unclear if it is permanent public artwork, or a temporary installation. Do you have more information about it? Was there an article or review published somewhere about the mural or commission, or even a press release? I have more photos (including Leonardi working on the work in question which I can provide). To the best of my knowledge, this was a temporary installation, although I have gone to the subway station in Rome to check that it is still there.
- This sentence,
- Thank you! Leonardiestate (talk) 20:14, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for this info. When I find the time I'll update the article, or another unconnected editor may get to it beforehand. Thanks again. Netherzone (talk) 20:57, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- Ok thank you. When is the COI tag and unreliable source tag going to be solved? IS there anything else i can on my side? Best regards. Leonardiestate (talk) 21:45, 31 March 2024 (UTC)
- Just be patient. There is no deadline, and having maintenance tags are not a badge of shame, they are simply a heads up to editors who are uninvolved (don't have a COI) that the article needs attention and review. The vast majority of editors here are volunteers, so things will probably not be happening on your timeline. You have written a long list of things, all of which need to be checked and verified. I'd suggest that you put your trust in the process and not worry so much about the tags, they may seem problematic to you because of your COI and your closeness to the subject. Thank you.
