Important message

[edit]

Hi; I have an important question about your userpage. It seems to imply that this account is being used by multiple individuals; however, any given Wikipedia account is only to be used by one person.

If multiple people do have access to this account, that will have to change. You are all still welcome to edit Wikipedia; however, you must do so via separate accounts. One of you can retain this account and change the password (and also modify the userpage so that it no longer implies that the account is being shared), and the others can all begin their own individual accounts.

If, conversely, it's just an issue of non-optimal phrasing on the userpage, I'll have to ask that you fix it so that account-sharing is no longer implied.

I apologize for the inconvenience this causes, and look forward to reading your further work on New Orleans history. DS (talk) 16:04, 18 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Primary sources

[edit]

Please read our guidance on the use of primary sources for Wikipedia articles. Wikipedia articles should be based on reliable, published secondary sources and, to a lesser extent, on tertiary sources and primary sources. Secondary or tertiary sources are needed to establish the topic's notability and to avoid novel interpretations of primary sources. All interpretive claims, analyses, or synthetic claims about primary sources must be referenced to a secondary source, rather than to an original analysis of the primary-source material by Wikipedia editors. If you wish to write articles involving original research and synthesis, Wikipedia is not the venue for you; you should be writing for peer-reviewed historical journals. --Orange Mike | Talk 18:48, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
