Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. I don't get how I went wrong in creating a page about a London bus route when there are already many similar pages out there already, if anything this encyclopedia should be pressing to get pages for every bus route in London so that they don't have to redirect all the time.

I fully agree with you, however you may want to look at Wikipedia's General Notability Guidelines. This is why there are few stand-alone articles about London Bus Routes. I think its crazy, because this is an encyclopedia,It needs information, but i have to go with the flow. The reason why some aren't notable enough is because of the lack of sources available for them, and most of them are self-published enthusiast websites, which have correct information on then, but cannot be proven reliable. However, what you did after you put the basic info about the route is say "Can someone help me with this?" or something like that. This kind of discussion should go on the article's talk page, which is why you have been given warnings. Class455fan1 (talk) 19:11, 20 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm obtaining the information from http://bus-routes-in-london.wikia.com. They have a large number of bus routes with up-to-date information about on the pages, as well as timetable PDFs and numerous galleries. It seems to be pretty reputable, though I could be wrong...

I understand though that I shouldn't have cried out for help on the page.

Hi LondonBuses75. I'm very sorry but i have reverted your edits to route 5. There are no reliable sources to prove that the info there is correct, so this means it fails WP:GNG. Please don't recreate the page otherwise it will risk going to an AfD debate, and we don't want that to happen. Thanks and have a good evening! Class455fan1 (talk) 21:03, 20 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Basically you're telling me that you don't want anymore pages, after I spent over 30 minutes gathering information...how annoying, especially when I'm trying to help the best I can and my work is going unappreciated.

I know how you feel, I once did this to route 434. I spent a couple of hours working on it and gathering information from the Metrobus website, however it was reverted by another user for the same reason. (This was when i didnt think GNG existed). If you have gathered information, can you please cite these references in the article. I do think there needs to be changes in the way articles about bus routes are looked at, in regards to GNG. What i would do is restore your content, and add tags to it, but it'll risk being deleted if i do that. Your edits are appreciated here, its just that we can't have articles on here without sources to prove them. Class455fan1 (talk) 21:11, 20 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Under such judgement a lot of articles need to be deleted as they lack citations! LondonBuses75 (talk) 21:18, 20 January 2016 (UTC)LondonBuses75[reply]

I just saw the information you are getting the info from. This site is self-published because the guy who made this wiki is also on a forum I'm on, and i don't think he works for TfL. He is also an editor here, so it isn't reliable. I do agree with your comment, however articles are given time to provide sources, as they are tagged, then if no sources are provided, they are nominated for deletion (well, thats what i think). We are trying to avoid the article being nominated for deletion, so that's why i reverted your edit. Class455fan1 (talk) 21:27, 20 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I don't think I'll be making/editing many pages then! 21:54, 20 January 2016 (UTC)LondonBuses75
