Dispute Resolution about Eunice Olumide
[edit]I had to close your dispute resolution noticeboard thread about Eunice Olumide. First, you failed to identify the other parties, the ones who reverted your edit to refer to her as a supermodel. Second, and more importantly, there has been no discussion on a talk page, in particular, Talk: Eunice Olumide, about whether to refer to her as a supermodel. Since I am closing the case for procedural reasons, I think that I can state an opinion. That is that, as the reverting editors have noted, the designation "supermodel" is subjective, while the designation "model" is objective, referring to her line of work. In my opinion, the designation "supermodel" can be used if reliable sources, such as newspapers, can be quoted as referring to Ms. Olumide as a supermodel, although in that case that should be in the voice of the reliable sources, not in the voice of Wikipedia. Find a magazine or newspaper that has listed Ms. Olumide as one of the Scottish supermodels, or that has referred to her as a supermodel. Then insert that designation with a proper reference into the article. Robert McClenon (talk) 03:20, 5 May 2015 (UTC)
- Louise— I have also had a personal look at the issue you are presenting regarding the terminology by which you feel Wikipedia should refer to the person Eunice Olumide. I see that your edit history only includes edits to this one article, and that concerns me. It suggests that you do not yet have a stable or steady understanding of how Wikipedia works or what its format or policies are. Eunice may or may not be a "super" model by some external measure of such things, but to insist on the use of the term in the article about her feels strident and very unnecessary. I understand that you feel very strongly about the subject for some reason— I hope that you will come to feel similarly strongly about a wider range of topics on Wikipedia, and that you will quickly learn the best, most appropriate, and least offensive ways of adding information about those topics to their articles. For the present, it might be best if you leave the article on Eunice Olumide alone altogether, even if that means she only gets to be called a "model" for awhile. Pressing the point is only likely to lead to further problems for you right now, I think. Please take this advice is the way it is intended: as good. Thanks! In the mean time, have you considered developing your userpage? KDS4444Talk 11:47, 5 May 2015 (UTC)
