WikiProject Spaceflight reboot

Hello there! As you may or may not be aware, a recent discussion on the future of the Space-related WikiProjects has concluded, leading to the abolition of WP:SPACE and leading to a major reorganisation of WP:SPACEFLIGHT. It would be much appreciated if you would like to participate in the various ongoing discussions at the reorganisation page and the WikiProject Spaceflight talk page. If you are a member of one of WP:SPACEFLIGHT's child projects but not WP:SPACEFLIGHT itself, it would also be very useful if you could please add your name to the member list here. Many thanks!

License tagging for File:Spacex dragon cots demo 1 logo.png

Thanks for uploading File:Spacex dragon cots demo 1 logo.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 02:05, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:Ec78c82775f86d37f1950fda6fd54f7a.gif requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File:Ec78c82775f86d37f1950fda6fd54f7a.gif

Hi RadioFan, this is to inform you that I've deleted File:Ec78c82775f86d37f1950fda6fd54f7a.gif as being an unambiguous copyright violation. You marked it as being sourced from NASA, but did not provide a source. I know, however, that these images: (http://bit(dot)ly/bundles/nasakennedy/5; change the dot part) are the source files, and each file was uploaded by a SpaceX representative (they were only compiled onto a single page by a NASA employee). In the future, please make absolutely certain that NASA actually produced the images you want to upload before tagging them as public domain. I would also encourage you to upload valid pictures to Commons rather than to en.wiki, as they will be much more visible and better categorised there. If you have any questions, please let me know. Huntster (t @ c) 05:09, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

In the future please look at a talk page before posting to it. If you'd done this or looked at the history on the file itself, you'd see that I'd already tagged the file for deletion. (though I see I used the wrong CSD rational, shoud have used G7) While I appreciate your detailed reasoning above, its not anything I dont already know. I obtained the frames directly from a NASA source which did not make it clear that their source was SpaceX. Everyone is a bit excited about this launch, is eager to share, and not used to having sources outside of NASA providing images or other data.--RadioFan (talk) 12:39, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
I did read the history, and the above automated message on your talk page, and it looked like you had marked it as being a replica of another file (that didn't exist). How was I to know your actual rationale was something else? Regardless, the situation is resolved; I would just ask that you provide a source for your uploads in the future, as it helps determine the circumstances by which the file was obtained. Huntster (t @ c) 18:59, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
I provided a source. It turned out to be incorrect so I marked it for deletion. Again I marked it incorrectly but what does it matter, its gone.--RadioFan (talk) 19:06, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.

An SPA is carrying on deleting the section you reverted... Peridon (talk) 17:55, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

Normandy Village, Jacksonville, Florida

On 9/9/2010, you changed the "Normandy Village, Jacksonville Florida" page to redirect back to just the master "NORMANDY" page that i created about 5 to 7 years ago. Many years ago, 2005 or so i think, i created almost the entire "WESTSIDE" section of the "Neighborhoods of Jacksonville", along with major additions to the other city sections. I created the "Normandy Village" section as a part of, and one of, the many neighborhoods that exist in the overall "Normandy" section of Jacksonville's Westside. Back then, your counterpart, UNSCHOOL, complimented me on my creation.

I don't understand why you made this change.... I live in Normandy Village. Now you have essentially eliminated access to the "Normandy Village" page. Why ?

I know that back in 2007 or so, ya'll marked it as a "stub" (whatever that is), but otherwise, it has remained almost unchanged since. Over the years. many additions, and changes have been made to many of the sections that i created so long ago, but no-one at Wikipedia has ever "deleted" or "Redirected" one. Did i do something wrong ?

Do you want clarifications to something in the "Normandy Village, Jacksonville Florida" section ?

Please let me know, you can reach me at Starfleet7@aol.com . — Preceding unsigned comment added by Starfleet7 (talkcontribs) 03:31, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

You didn't do anything wrong. This article, along with several others were merged into the main article on Jacksonville neighborhoods because they did not meet guidelines for dedicated articles. These neighborhoods are simply too small and not well covered enough in 3rd party reliable sources to warrant their own articles. They can be adequately covered in the main, much more well maintained article on Jacksonville neighborhoods. The articles were replaced with a redirect to the section in Neighborhoods of Jacksonville, Florida so that visitors would be taken directly to the right place.
That larger article was edited and continues to be edited by many people. Your contributions are welcome but please understand that material you add can be updated or even eliminated completely but other editors. That is the basis of Wikipedia. If you have questions about those edits, its best to post them to the article's talk page. Other editors can comment and some consensus can hopefully be gained.
To answer your question above, a stub is a very short article, especially one that is insufficiently referenced. Articles are marked as stubs as an indication that they either need to be expanded or merged into a more appropriate article. Please continue to improve the information on these neighborhoods, but please do so in Neighborhoods of Jacksonville, Florida. --RadioFan (talk) 15:11, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Normandy Village, Jacksonville, Florida

This makes no sense, as you state that i need to provide references to the page, and then you deny me access to the page to add references...!!

Please give me access to the page so i can improve it. --Starfleet7 14:10, December 29 2010 (UTC)

Vandalism

Hey, I got your message regarding the List of Misfits episodes article. In what way, exactly, have I vandalised the page? The three edits done immediately before that by the different IP address '2.123.73.155' were also done by me more or less yesterday. All I done in my most recent change was correct a few grammatical errors, etc, that I had missed the last time... I thought it'd be alright... 94.5.248.195 (talk) 19:16, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, tagged the wrong edit. Your edits look fine. You should consider obtaining a userid though. I've left a note on your talk page with more information.--RadioFan (talk) 19:41, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

Haha, no problem. Thanks for taking the time to explain. About usernames; I regrettably hardly ever have the drive to edit many other articles on Wikipedia anymore (although I used to a lot also mostly anonomously), and my current IP addresses seem to change constantly, so I've gotten into the (probably foolish) belief I don't need one. I'm really starting to enjoy editing again for Misfits, though. 94.5.248.195 (talk) 20:01, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply

Please give me access to the page so i can improve it. There is no valid reason to deny this information to the public. --Starfleet7 14:10, December 29 2010 (UTC)

No one has denied you access to anything. If you would like to edit this article, please do. Click here to go straight to the section you can edit. Additional references would be great but please make sure they meet Wikipedia's standards for reliable sources. Lunar Eclipse

Just wanting to drop a line to thank and compliment you for your work on the recent lunar eclipse. Great stuff! von Harris (talk) 17:26, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

thanks for the kind words. It is an important article that was critical last night. I'm a bit disappointed in the admins for taking hours to protect it from anon-ip vandalism thought.--RadioFan (talk) 18:55, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

NAD27 coordinates

I ran across http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=KCAL_%28AM%29&direction=next&oldid=147146182 - you were apparently the contributor of the location information, matching the FCC database. However, those co-ordinates are for the NAD27 datum. When converted to NAD83/WGS84, the location ends up being about 100m west. I corrected it in this case. Are there more of these? Was a large-scale import of FCC data done? Note that some of their data is NAD27 and some is NAD83/WGS84 - they usually tell you somewhere which it is. AlanM1 (talk) 16:51, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

This is the data has been used by dozens of editors probably on thousands of articles. This really should be discussed at WP:WPRS before making any additional changes.--RadioFan (talk) 00:01, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
Done here. AlanM1 (talk) 11:43, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
