Please discontinue your addition of links to that website to articles such as Ruud van Nistelrooy. Their presence is clearly not desired, and if you continue you may end up getting the site blacklisted and hence invalid as a reference. Personally, I would find that extremely annoying as the site is very useful. Therefore, I request that you cease with this rampage and only link to the site when absolutely necessary. Soory mate, i thought i was doing everyone a favour by just giving people Ruud's stats for his UNITED carrear. I can only apologise if ive offended you, as you seem to be the Editor etc, but i spent a few hours spreading MUFC history & it seems for nothing. why can i ask have you removed everything, i think all my links were very applicable. as im new to this i can only again apol for my behavour Markinfocom (talk) 21:56, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm the one who removed the links. I appreciate your efforts but you have, in good faith, broken WP policy. Please read my message above and WP:EL for a detailed explanation about external links. You can use the MUFC site as a reference for (for example) a player's stats. Straight links to the site (or copying parts of its pages to WP) are not allowed though. There's a difference between straight linking to a site in the 'External Links' paragraph of an article, as you did, and using it as a reference. Take for example the Ruud van Nistelrooy article again. In the 'References' section you'll find links to all kinds of sites. BBC, CNN, Reuters, etc. Those links are references for facts stated in the article. Like proof. The sentence "Van Nistelrooy signed a five-year contract after passing his medical" (last sentence of Early Career section) has a small [1] behind it. That [1] corresponds to the [1] in the References list, "Man Utd clinch Van Nistelrooy deal", BBC Sport Website (23 April, 2001)". That's where that particular bit of info came from. For more detailed info on that technique, see WP:REF. Your other question, about linking to WP, is easy to answer.
