That source you provided is incorrect. Davis was a settler but he was not founder or namer of Montpelier. Timothy Bigelow was. Mbigelow (talk) 23:25, 16 November 2020 (UTC)

You can use the style in the Wikipedia links Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners, Wikipedia:Citing sources or Chicago Manual of Style (author: last name first, title in italics, place of publication, publisher, year; page number; OCLC or ISBN number; also if an internet citation: the http and date retrieved (date inserted into article). I forgot to add the page number, which is important for a complete citation. I just added. Regardless of whether you use that style or the Wikipedia style, you need to open and close the citation with "ref" tags:. With the tags, you put the citation at the end of the sentence for which you are adding it as a footnote. That automatically places it at the bottom of the page. I saw that the article is still showing Davis as naming Montpelier. The grant of Montpelier was made to Timothy who found and named it not to Davis. Davis was a settler. Mbigelow (talk) 16:35, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
