References and citations

[edit]

Hello Cristina. Just a brief note on the edits you've made to [A Serious Man] If you are adding references, you should make sure that they follow the same format as the references section on the article page. It's also important to make sure that you give a full reference, in addition to the helpful link to the pdf that you've given. This is so that readers can follow up the source of the quotation, even if the link to the pdf document breaks or is deleted. I hope that's helpful. Good luck with the rest of your assignment! Hi Jenny, I have now provided a reference to the book where I sourced the quotation :)

Hi Cristina. Are you sure? I can't see your most recent changes - and I can see that another user removed your additional text on the grounds of relevance to the 'production' section of the article (the user may well have a point given that you're citing interesting material, but which might perhaps fit better under the rubric of 'critical reception', 'scholarship' or 'themes' as subheadings). I hope you're not discouraged - assuming good faith in the intentions of others certainly helps in this regard. Have a look at the most recent version of the page and see what you think. In order to avoid immediate changes to your edits from other users, it's sometimes helpful to post your suggested changes on the talk page of the article first. If there is no response from other users within a reasonable time frame, then you can assume it's fine to go ahead. DrJennyCee (talk) 15:35, 18 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jenny, oh dear I see my edit and reference has now been deleted :( at least the next editor kept my structure rearrange so I still think the section flows better. It's a shame as it took me quite a long but I agree, the quote fits better in the critical reception part of the article so I suppose its all learning.

All is not lost! You can always put the quotation and reference in part of the critical reception if it's appropriate. I do think the theological/philosophical aspects of the film deserve a mention somewhere in the article. Keep going - you're doing great work.DrJennyCee (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 10:08, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I'm the editor who undid and modified some of your edits on A Serious Man. If you have any questions or qualms about my changes, feel free to leave a note on the article talk page, or my talk page, or just go ahead and modify my modifications. It's a collaboration, all open to discussion and further edits. Thanks for your work: the article is better for it. Barte (talk) 00:10, 21 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
