Hello - welcome to the talk page for DrJennyCee . I am running a course on research methods for second year students in Film Studies at Queen Mary, University of London. Over the course of 6 weeks, students made up of small groups will adopt, evaluate and edit an existing Wikipedia page (preferably with C or B class status) on a single film. I understand the rules regarding single users (and that group users are not acceptable within Wikipedia principles), and so students will need to keep track of their contributions.

I would be very grateful to hear from experienced wikipedians and/or facilitators who might be willing to support my students (and me!) in developing this part of the course, in particular, ways of keeping track of individual edits from students.DrJennyCee (talk) 13:35, 14 January 2013 (UTC)

Hello The Interior - it's very kind of you to get in touch so quickly. Thank you so much for your offer of help! I hope you don't mind me responding here, rather than on your page - I am a new user to Wikipedia too, so I'll be learning alongside my students, and it helps to have material in one place! The students are starting to get going with identifying Wikipedia entries on single films which would benefit from further editing. The first problem I can foresee, aside from dealing with trolling and fast re-edits from experienced users, is to do with finding ways of collecting together individual students' edits, so that it is clear who has done what and in which group (students have been put into groups on their Virtual Learning Environment). I hope that last issue makes sense - perhaps I will be able to ask a clearer question once I have a little more experience. My next seminar with the students is on Friday (18 Jan), so perhaps if I could ask you some further questions then, would that be alright? DrJennyCee (talk) 14:00, 14 January 2013 (UTC)

Keeping track of edits

Click on the "View history" at the top of this talk page. Then click on "contributions" next to my name. If you go to my User Page, you will have access to a tool (says "Edit counts") that does a graph and compiles numbers of edits. Everything in Wikipedia is recorded, and only an administrator can "hide" an edit. I am sure there are more tools, but that is an easy beginning. A Serious Man edits

Hi there! I was curious about the flurry of edits on A Serious Man; I'm the editor who keeps making niggling changes to what appears to be your students' work. Great to see those: I had no idea the film had been the subject of academic critiques. But yes, the iterative process can sometimes seem harsh or abrupt, especially if you are a new editor. So just want to say I'm happy discuss, and help where I can, on the article's talk page, which is the ideal, or my talk page, or wherever else is convenient. Possible Collaboration

Hello DrJennyCree, I have been working on expanding the article on E. Elias Merhige's 1990 experimental horror film Begotten via a separate userspace draft for quite some time now. My goal is to get it up to FA status, but I need help finishing the draft up before I add it all to the actual article. I was looking at participants of WP Film and I saw that you like working on articles dealing with experimental film. I was wondering if you would like to help me finish up the draft so I can bring it all into the actual article for FA status nomination.
