Creating articles

[edit]

Hallo. You may have noticed @Alalch E. and I doing some work on your draft before it was published. One of the important principles of Wikipedia is WP:Verifiability. Personal observation and communications are not good sources for Wikipedia because it is an encyclopedia, a work that complies already published information rather than a place for original publication of information. If you were to publish your observations in a magazine or journal it could go into Wikipedia. Though only if some other editor thinks it reliable, we're always too close to our own work and so to avoid conflicts of interest never directly edit in information you have published yourself. Though you can point to it on the article's talk page and suggest it as a source. 🌿MtBotany (talk) 03:09, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Helianthus devernii

[edit]

On 18 July 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Helianthus devernii, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the newly discovered and critically imperiled Red Rock sunflower (Helianthus devernii) has only been found around two desert springs located in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Helianthus devernii. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Helianthus devernii), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
