[edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

[edit]Oh dear me, it has all gone very wrong.
I would like to help, because years and years ago, I worked for the eponymous family business. I knew your father, and we've met, when you were a child. You wont remember. I'm not sure which one was your father though !!! My own memory has faded.
Just reply here if you'll take some honest advice that will help if followed. Thanks, -Roxy the dog™ (resonate) 18:54, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
Hi Roxy,
Nice of you to make contact. My father was Peter and my brother(s) Steven and Paul.
I am really disappointed in Wikipedia. The whole original article was never written by me. It had some inaccuracies that I put right and I decided to add a 'working record'. They kept removing the working record but now they have removed content that had been there for years and years. Also, how can there not be a more reliable and credible source than Michael Bentwood writing about Michael Bentwood.
The adjustments I made are pure fact. There are no exaggerations and it seems every time I went to insert a relevant and current working record it was removed. I can't take Wikipedia seriously anymore with administrators that identify themselves with bizarre names and behave unprofessionally. (not directed at you)
Wikipedia should be grateful I was making an article current and more relevant. Instead somebody blocks me for a 'legal threat' (because I thought he was a spammer or hacker). Also, for something thats apparently not constructive and written in a promotional tone. It is very petty, lame and strikes me as jealously.
I hope you had a good Easter and would appreciate some advice. Although, even if I am unblocked, my adjustments are likely to be removed again.
Kind regards
Michael
- Here we go then Kinda busy right now so I just want to know, if you'll accept the short version, in good faith, that what we need to do for your Bio here is to get other people to edit your bio for us, as we both have a Conflict of Interest in it. You because you are the subject of the Bio, and me because I ... well, think of it as a weird mafia family loyalty thing, OK?
- Now, cos I'm rushing, I wanted you to know that there is no management here, just volunteers like me and you with no special power, that I understand totally why you are so pissed off at wikipedia, but its just cos we've all been at cross purposes.
- Would I be correct to assume that you just want to improve your Bio, and aren't interested in further stuff here? There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, by the way.
- Explaining why you were blocked and getting you unblocked is easy compared to explaining why you have no more control over your own bio than anybody else does here. It is the 'pedia that anybody can edit after all. I'll be back. best wishes -Roxy the Viking dog™ (resonate) 17:50, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- Oh ... meant to note that I remember Peter's silver metallic Lambo 4-seater, followed by a beautiful Bentley which he told me he didn't like very much, then Ferraris. I actually saw Steven around the start of this century !! -Roxy the Viking dog™ (resonate) 17:54, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- I've just now looked at some of the edits you've made this year - I'm sorry Micheal, but some of the promotional flowery language you used just wont wash here, it's an encyclopedia, not "Vogue" or "Luxury Exotics", and our Manual of Style thing (we call it Policy and Guidelines) makes us conform. Look at this ... https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Michael_Bentwood&diff=643534267&oldid=640872309 ... the changes you made appear in blue in the right hand column of that link. That sort of language and promotional stuff doesn't belong here because of our writing rules. (Personally, that's what should be on your own website alongside or over the enigmatic pic of you looking thoughtful, and like an identical twin to Steven.) Because of that, I'd like to know your thoughts so far, bearing in mind that we'll never get the flowery promotional stuff in. You have to also remember that by our own rules, we have to verify our articles by using good sources (WP:RS) for almost everything. The Biography Of Living People rules (WP:BLP) make us very careful about that - people can be very sensitive. I'm sure you understand.
- That is why your legal threat got you a block. Anybody can edit, but if you make legal threats, the privilege gets withdrawn. I know you were only trying to rattle some cages, but it seems that wikipedia always responds this way, having investigated. I'll be back later. -Roxy the Viking dog™ (resonate) 09:04, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for referring to me as a spammer/hacker and someone who is jealous. If you bothered to read WP:BLP before, maybe you needn't have hastily threatened me and wouldn't have got blocked. Learn to assume good faith in others. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 09:06, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
- Rsrikanth05 is totally correct in his/her advice/comment above, and in the reprimand. I have to admit to agreeing with that contribution to this page. I know Rsrikanth05 only from hisher editing here where we happen to have interests in common. For the record, I have contacted the Admin who imposed the block for the legal threat, and you can see the conversation at the following link ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Titodutta#A_favour.2C_if_you_can ... You can see that people are not unsympathetic to your situation, but Tito has made very valid points I'm afraid.
- I feel that I might have made things complicated for you, so I am going to wait till you've had a chance to digest it all. regards. -Roxy the Viking dog™ (resonate) 11:25, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
}Hi, to give some background, I do NOT know anything about Michael Bentwood, nor am I interested in racing. My interests lie in Public Transport, and things within India, but that does NOT exempt me from being able to edit other articles. I was using Stiki, a program that shows diffs and based on the edit, I can either undo it or carry on. The edit that I first undid was unsourced, which would be a BLP violation, as well as being from an account with the same name as the page being edited, thus constituting a conflict of interest. I have NOT made an edit anywhere. I have clearly stated that Wikipedia is NOT an advertising destination, and the threat of a local county whatever was totally uncalled for. Period. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 11:47, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
Hi Roxy,
Thank you for going to so much trouble and for your comprehensive response when you are busy. My father never had a Lambo, he wishes! Although he may have had a Bentley at some point. I no longer have any interest in Wikipedia nor do I have the time to invest in such bureaucracy.
Rsrikanth05 I wouldn't take my comments so personally. That was the perception at the time from yourself and Wikipedia. You say 'learn to assume good faith in others?' Why would I trust somebody I don't know, i've never met, removes wording without a proper explanation and identifies himself as Rsrikanth05. My judgement at the time was you were not real and on that basis I have every right to protect myself. Now that i know you are part of Wikipedia and genuine, it is no longer a problem. I don't wish to engage in any more dialogue regarding Wikipedia this page or its details. Thank you.
- OK. If it wasn't a Lambo, then it must have been a Ferrari, and the Bentley that followed it was brown. Also wanted to say that my fathers best man 60 approx years ago was Peter Collins (racing driver). If I ever see any of the family again, I'll mention this, but I doubt it'll happen. All the best. -Roxy the Viking dog™ (resonate) 14:30, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
I was obviously too young to remember. Peter Collins - no way; how cool! I must mention it to dad, what was your surname? I really appreciated your help with Wikipedia but the experience has just left me totally uninterested. All the best to you too. :)
I'm anonymous here, so no surname. However, Peter may remember asking me to go abroad on business on one occasion in middleton one Thursday, and I refused because I was getting married on the Saturday!! -Roxy the Viking dog™ (resonate) 15:03, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
