Infobox timestamps
[edit]Hello, I'm Mattythewhite. Welcome to Wikipedia! I just wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions were not quite right. When updating statistics within the infobox of a footballer, please make sure you update the timestamp at the same time, so that both readers and fellow editors know when the information was last updated.
You can do this by replacing the existing timestamp within the |club-update=
or |pcupdate=
parameter for club stats, or the |nationalteam-update=
or |ntupdate=
parameter for international stats. For articles that use a DMY date format, use five tildes (~~~~~), or for MDY dates, use {{subst:mdytime}}. This will generate the specific time the update was made.
If you have any questions about this, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you, Mattythewhite (talk) 17:59, 22 July 2019 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm Mattythewhite. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Richard Smallwood (footballer), but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Mattythewhite (talk) 18:20, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
Please do not add or change content, as you did at Bradley Johnson, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Mattythewhite (talk) 18:31, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did on Danny Graham (footballer). This violates Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Mattythewhite (talk) 18:42, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia. Per #Infobox timestamps. Mattythewhite (talk) 20:07, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
Your changes to player stats
[edit]Hello, and thank you for trying to correct errors in player stats.
Like most stats for English footballers on here, the stats for Gary Gardner and Wes Harding are sourced to Soccerbase, as you can see from the career stats tables on the pages. Wonder if you can tell me where you're getting the figures for your changes to those pages, and why you think they're more likely to be right than the ones on Soccerbase?
Your changes to those pages may well be correct, but if you don't give any reason for them, they'll end up being undone (as has happened already at some other pages). cheers, Struway2 (talk) 20:15, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hmmm. Although the ENFA Yearbook should be reliable, it's probably just as error-prone as any other source. Certainly the ENFA website has plenty of errors. If you're going to go on using it, you do need to state on each article you edit where your stats are coming from, and ideally point out why the existing source is wrong. Which is a pain in the backside, but otherwise there's no obvious reason why the ENFA book should take priority over whatever source the article's already using.
- As to the warnings: the
|club-update=
parameter in the infobox gives a date/timestamp at which the infobox stats are unambiguously correct. So if you're bringing the stats up-to-date as of the end of the season, you need to change that correct-as-of date to match. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 20:51, 22 July 2019 (UTC)- As to Harding: I've found the error in Soccerbase, restored your figure, and added a source for the discrepancy at the 2018/19 row in the career stats table. thanks, Struway2 (talk) 08:20, 23 July 2019 (UTC)

[edit]This is your only warning; if you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did at Andreas Weimann, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Per #Infobox timestamps. Mattythewhite (talk) 20:34, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
