[edit]Hi, I've noticed your edits regarding Vietnam. You've suddenly changed your addition from the correct note that a pre-arranged visas can be picked up on arrival to that bluntly visas can be obtained on arrival which could lead to confusion as there is no visa on arrival facility in Vietnam, people can't just hop on a plane and go to Vietnam, they must first get the visa confirmation. They don't have to go to the embassy but that's it, there is no visa on arrival per se, it is pre-arranged. So that's the first problem. And the second problem is you are blindly copy-pasting that addition to all articles including articles for visa requirements of nationalities that don't require a visa for Vietnam at all. They simply don't require a visa and you've been overriding the maximum allowed stay data with for them irrelevant information on visas. I hope you go back to adding the correct information regarding pre-arranged visa pick-up and that you stop changing the articles of nationalities that do not require a visa at all.--Twofortnights (talk) 10:30, 9 April 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Yes pre-arranged visa can be picked up upon arrival. You apply online, print the letter, and then go to the airports that I have mentioned and you will get your visa. I kept the wording simple because there is a vietnam visa company that has a bunch of links and I didnt want to get into "wikipedia battle" with that person/company. There is a new place in Vietnam that allows people from any nation to stay visa free for 30 days. This was implemented only a few weeks ago, and it is to promote tourism to a specific economic. There are a handful of nationalities that can stay in Vietnam visa free for less than 30 days, but anything longer requires a visa. For example, Philippine nationalities can stay in vietnam for 21 days but on phu quoc they can stay for 30 days. However, I know what you mean. I'll make the wording more clear. I was just following the guidelines and benchmarking what others have wrote. Thanks for your message.
- OK so what happened to your promise to change the wording? You are adding info again on "visa on arrival" that can be confusing. Please don't. In India it's a scandal because they've called their pre-arranged visa system "visa on arrival" - [1] and you are bluntly adding info on Vietnamese "visa on arrival" that not even the Government of Vietnam calls it that way. You need to understand you must write that it is a pre-arranged visa, something like
- Pre-arranged visa obtained online through travel agencies is available for pick-up at Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City or Da Nang airports.
- Anything else is a lie. There is no visa on arrival in Vietnam like in other countries yet. You must arrange it before getting on a plane.--Twofortnights (talk) 10:00, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
I asked a few of the agents in Vietnam as well as expats and they do indeed call it Visa On Arrival. It is not "pre-arranged" per se, the pre-approval is just a letter stating that you are now available for the visa on arrival. I've kept the wording the same as it was before so that the other moderators are satisfied and a wiki edit war doesn't ensue which will end up everyone wasting their time, wikipedia losing credibility, and worse a downfall in the user experience. I just added Phu Quoc Island as a new place because this new airport offers VOA AND 30 days free, it is the only place in Vietnam where you get this double incentive, and like I mentioned above, not many people know about because the VN government doesn't market it. If the wording is still ambiguous i will change, just reply below. Thanks and have a nice weekend
- That's all very nice but a very serious violation of the Wikipedia:Verifiability. We can't use what someone told you over the phone. We need to use reliable sources and they tell us you must be pre-approved by either the Ministry of Public Security or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. If you don't have this approval that you call "just a letter" you won't be able to board plane, and even if you somehow manage to do it, you will be turned away at the border and deported back to where you came from while the airline will pay a huge fine. That's the only truth. And you didn't keep the old wording, I am sorry but that's pretty obvious, you've been changing either "Holders of an approval letter issued and stamped by the Vietnamese Immigration Department can obtain a visa on arrival" or "Prearranged visa obtained online through travel agencies available at" to a simple but wrong "Visa on arrival at". So you need to write what the Vietnamese Government informs IATA is the current rule specifically and that is "Holders of a pre-approval letter that was issued and stamped by the Vietnamese authorities in Hanoi may obtain a visa on arrival at xxx".
