March 2020[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Velella. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Kodak Ektra ‎ have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.  Velella  Velella Talk   02:28, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Help me![edit]

I don't understand why my contributions are being removed for self promotion. I updated the article for the Kodak Ektra, with my own photo of a Kodak Ektra and included a link to an article I wrote about it in the External Links. This isn't to self promote, it's to add relevant information about an obscure camera. Someone named Velella removed everything I added.

By all means re-add the photo if it is relevant (which it seems to be) but do not link to any unreliable web-site. Unreliable in this instance includes any blogs, social media, your own web-site or anything similar. So, I am afreaid you can't use material that you wrote to support any article on Wikipedia unless it is published on a reliable web-site such as "The Times", "The BBC", "Amateur Photographer" or a commercially published referenced work such as the "British Journa; of Photography" or even better "The British Journal Photographic Almanac" from the mid 1940s. Hope that this helps. Regards  Velella  Velella Talk   02:40, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker)Mike Eckman, I have added back the photo per the above agreement. The link to your own web site is a no-no on Wikipedia, as it can also be construed as personal promotion, in addition to the reasons provided by Velella.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 02:49, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
