December 2009[edit]

Hi. Welcome back to Wikipedia. You did quite right to tag Saqib (BT,Roof Rayman,Squrial) (what a curious title!) as an attack page just now, but there are two more things you should have done:

  • Blank the page so that shows only the {{db-atk}} tag. That gets the, possibly libellous, material off view quickly, and deprives the attacker of the pleasure of giggling over it with his friends or showing it to the victim. The admin who looks at it can still see it in the history.
  • Warn the attacker. When the {{db-atk}} template is expanded onto the article, it includes a suitably fierce warning for you to copy and paste. That may put him off, and will let other people know what he has been up to if he does it again.

If you are going to do more New Page Patrolling (which needs all the eyes it can get), read WP:CSD carefully. The definitions are qute narrowly drawn. There is good advice from an experienced admin at WP:10CSD and WP:A7M. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 18:28, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks John. I'll be sure to give a careful read over WP:CSD. Milo03 (talk) 01:47, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Page Curation newsletter[edit]

Hey Milo03. I'm dropping you a note because you used to (or still do!) patrol new pages. This is just to let you know that we've deployed and developed Page Curation, which augments and supersedes Special:NewPages - there are a lot of interesting new features :). There's some help documentation here if you want to familiarise yourself with the system and start using it. If you find any bugs or have requests for new features, let us know here. Thanks! Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
