References
[edit]Can more detail be provided for references that are described as OR or ORN? From what is at the article, an interested reader would have no idea what these references are. And there are still large amounts of text without references. David notMD (talk) 13:31, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
I will correct those, OR and ORN are Official Records and Official Records, Navies, respectively. I was confused about the error template.. I misread it as a problem of formatting rather than quantity. I've added several citations over the past few days, and am continuing to work on it. Mkr8683 (talk) 15:26, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
- Glad to see you've come back to the article. After referencing improved I will remove the template. David notMD (talk) 16:20, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, I hope to be finished with it soon.Mkr8683 (talk) 16:31, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
- URLs are not the right way to show website refs. Here is a format to plug into. I fixed two of the refs. [1]
I corrected the URL citations, but messed up the refname shortcuts.. some of the citations are different sections of the same website, which is a compilation of scholarly and newspaper articles, journals, and books.Mkr8683 (talk) 16:55, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
- The refs look better, even though not in official website format. Using ref name= only necessary if a ref is used more than once. I removed the more references needed tag. However, first paragraph of Background still has no references. David notMD (talk) 18:29, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, the Background paragraph is now properly cited, and I've corrected the remaining URLs (the ones I missed were bot-generated). Thank you very much for your guidance! Please note that the Official Records - Armies used Roman numerals, while the Official Records - Navies used English numbers. The difference is not a mistake.Mkr8683 (talk) 22:43, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
