offer to contribute
[edit]Hi Monik,
I am interested in incorporating some or all of my Bernoulli Principle content at http://home.earthlink.net/~mmc1919/venturi.html, if it makes sense. I don't know if wikipedia can handle the java applets and mpeg movies. Any suggestions would be welcome.

A question on UTIAS page
[edit]Hi Monik. I'm a UTIAS PhD Student and a new Wiki member. I wrote a question about the UTIAS page in its discussion page (I am not sure I should have done it here or there). So first of all, I apologize if I did it wrong. Your help is appreciated. Secondly, I really appreciate if you answer my question. Regards, MrMo 07:25, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
Wikipedia e-mail?
[edit]On a past help board notice you said "e-mail me if you want." But how does one go about e-mailing another wiki user (assuming they are registered but have not included their wiki e-mail address in their signature)? I am afraid I (and another user) may have "bitten" another user; I apologized on his/her talk page, but there has been no sign of life for several days. I suspect from the original sin and the apparently hurt feelings, that this is a very young user. (I am, unfortunately, a very old user!) ⇒ normxxx| talk ⇒ email 20:44, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
⇒⇒ Sorry! I realized shortly after my message to you that the means to e-mail others was as close as my own signature! Thanks for your reply. Hope you're having a gay old time in Camden. (I loved it there, living on Mass Ave near Ha-a-a-va-a-a-hd Ya-a-a-hd while I worked at Lincoln Lab in the late '60s. I also had cross-faculty privileges and occasionally ate in the Harvard Faculty Lounge eatery— at the time, horsemeat steak was still featured, a leftover from WW II apparently, and contrary to urban myth, not illegal.) If you are interested in what transpired with the wiki user I "bit," see the OOP and RAM section under Talk:Object-oriented_programming. It did not occur to me until later that we were probably dealing with a very young user— one of the disadvantages of the internet.
⇒⇒ Would you believe that when I was graduated with an E.E. degree in 1956, I had never met a woman engineer (I had heard rumors of them, they usually just went on to the Ph.D. and then taught. In the '50s, I don't think anyone would have hired them in industry! In the '50s, there were no E.E. degrees in Electronics, much less Aeronautical Engineering, at least at C.C.N.Y.) But before I retired, I not only met and worked with many women engineers, I found that they were universally better than their male peers in at least one regard— they had a far sounder estimate of their own abilities and limitations, and were far less likely to come in (as in one poll), with some 70% of respondents rating themselves as "above average!" (Because of this kind of competition, never underrate yourself, nor fail to blow your own horn, if appropriate.)
⇒⇒Do you know if the old "Frank and Stein" is still located in Harvard Square? ⇒ normxxx| talk ⇒ email 17:23, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit]It's a troll, see my reply on my talk page. -- Curps 06:43, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
It was me, as suspected. I set it on auto-pilot and went to take a nap, but by the time I woke up, I noticed that my AOL IP was blocked and the database was locked. I have replied at WP:AN, and it seems Essjay's conclusion is correct, judging by the timestamps. Also, I had previously chosen to include a link to my username in all of the bot's edit summaries to avoid confusion just in case things like this happen. — FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 22:45, Feb. 13, 2006
Unrestoring your faith in admins
[edit]Sorry. Musical Linguist has chosen to revert a reasonable viewpoint added to Talk:Terri Schiavo so that she can impose her pro-life viewpoints on the rest of us. Of course, you have to be able to get beyond these two-dimensional labels of "banned user", etc. and be able to evaluate what Ann removed using your own critical judgement. -- 68.122.119.128 07:29, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, Moink. Your message was appreciated, even if it wasn't answered as soon as it should have been. :-) AnnH ♫ 12:56, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
hello!
[edit]Hi moink! Just wanted to say to a fellow Wikipedian at MIT. I don't know much about grad life, but Wikipedia is certainly detracting from time spent on my studies. Cheers! Isopropyl 03:36, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
Wow, thanks!
[edit]Hi moink... I only just now happened to read your user page. I don't know why I didn't before, but that happens. I was blown away that I got such a positive mention! So I just wanted to say thanks, and that it has made my day! You do meet all sorts here, and I have to admit that I've had my share of the combative thing you mention. Proper collaboration or co-operation always works better though - articles are always the better for that as opposed to edit wars, and stress levels are much lower! So I'm very pleased that that approach is occasionally recognised. I hope you are still as enthusiastic about Wikipedia as you used to be. Best wishes, Graham 23:34, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Relisting
[edit]Just a reminder that when you do a relisting like Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brushogun, it's helpful to remove it from the original day-page since otherwise we can't close off the day as completed properly and, after a few days or hours of more participation below the red line, it looks like it has already been relisted and the new nomination gets accidentally speedy closed. Thanks. -Splashtalk 01:22, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
Thanks!
[edit]Thanks for the message! Gave me warm fuzzies, especially since I'm pretty sure I had some comments of yours in mind when writing part of it. As for the gender thing, well, assuming everyone is male is the better bet around here, usually... Mindspillage (spill yours?) 05:18, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
Bayraktar Mini UAV
[edit]Hi there. I'm having trouble with my vote on this AfD because I cannot find any third-party or reputable evidence that this craft even exists. Can you clarify to me what made you certain that it is an aircraft in production? Thank you. --Perfecto 17:34, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
- I see that even senior wikipedians have varying degrees of gullibility. Well, having another hoax article in Wikipedia doesn't matter much, I guess. Thanks. --Perfecto 02:15, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
