Adding unsourced material[edit]

MrBotman300, it's a core principle of Wikipedia that all content added to an article should be supported by a citation to a reliable source. I have just undone this recent edit of yours at Rockefeller Republican, the same article mentioned in the Welcome message above; please don't reinsert this material again without a source. Please take this opportunity to reread Wikipedia's principle of WP:Verifiability, and remember going forward that original research is forbidden at Wikipedia, and including a citation along with your content is the best way of providing proof of verifiability. See Help:Footnotes for some tips on how to do this. If you have any questions about this, or about any question related to editing at Wikipedia, please don't hesitate to contact me at my talk page. I see that you've tried once again at Rockefeller Republican, this time carefully adding a reference for each one of the 51 names you added to the article. Thank you very much for your efforts! Unfortunately, I'm afraid that your edit had to be removed, except for one name you added (Arlen Specter). The others were sourced, but the citations you provided did not support the assertion that the officeholder is a Rockefeller Republican. That is, when you add a citation, the source identified by the citation has to support the addition of content to the Wikipedia article; for 50 of the 51 names, the citation you provided never used the term "Rockefeller Republican"; that means, that the only proof we had in the article about those people being "Rockefeller Republicans" was your own feeling that they are, but that is not good enough. I'm sorry, because I know that this must have represented a great deal of work on your part, to find all those citations and add them, and I appreciate the work you did to find and add them! That effort will serve you in good stead in your career at Wikipedia; however, in this case, they did not verify the claims made, and so the edit had to come out. Once again, if you have any questions about this, or about anything at Wikipedia, please don't hesitate to contact me. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 10:37, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
