Hello, Msrevolution, and welcome to Wikipedia. An article you recently created, Influential American, has been tagged for speedy deletion because its content is clearly written to promote a company, product, or service. This article may have been deleted by the time you see this message. Please keep in mind that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not an advertising service. Thank you. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles that you have created yourself. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page and make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you.
Please read What Wikipedia is Not. Wikipedia is not a bulletin board for posting Atlantic Monthly's press releases. Fan-1967 16:29, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
Again
[edit]You have recently re-created the article 100 Most Influential Americans, which was deleted in accordance with Wikipedia's deletion policies. Please do not re-create the article. If you disagree with the article's deletion, you may ask for a deletion review. Fan-1967 16:32, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
100 Most Influential Americans
[edit]I have deleted this article for being a copyright violation. Please do not repost it. -- Merope 16:33, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- I'm sorry; I had hoped that you had read this before I deleted it again. (I'm a little on edge today--I'll probably end up taking a break from editing because of it.) The text of the article (or, at the very least, the list itself) is lifted from The Atlantic Monthly and thus violates our copyright policies. We can only have original work submitted that people agree to license under the GFDL. If you disagree with this deletion, you may request a deletion review. -- Merope 16:38, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
What part of copyright don't you understand?
[edit]Atlantic Monthly publishes articles. They spent a lot of time and effort compiling those articles. They copyright those articles. We can't legally reprint them. Fan-1967 16:39, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, even the list itself is copyrighted. We can't print someone else's work without permission. Fan-1967 16:41, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
Final warning
[edit]Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. See Wikipedia:Copyrights. Copyright violations are unacceptable and persistent violators will be blocked. Your original contributions are welcome. -- Merope 16:55, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
Copyright problems. Again
[edit]You recently created an article called Think Big (book). It has been deleted for being a copyright violation (I was able to find the exact text here. This is your final warning: do not copy and paste material and post it to Wikipedia. Doing so again will result in an indefinite block. -- Merope 17:14, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
More copyright problems
[edit]Your edits to Ben Carson (here) are a wholesale text dump from http://www.achievement.org/autodoc/page/car1bio-1 . Please stop doing this. Fan-1967 17:23, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Think Big
[edit]Typing out material from a book is still a copyright violation. (A pretty flagrant one, I might add.) Do not add anything to Wikipedia that is not your own work. Anything that has been copied from another source will be deleted, and persisting in doing this will result in your being blocked from editing. -- Merope 16:07, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Think Big
[edit]If you took words directly from the introduction of the book, then look inside the front cover of the book. It's copyrighted, isn't it? Then we can't use it. You really, really need to understand this: Don't copy anything from anywhere. Wikipedia does not want copies of other people's material. Fan-1967 16:10, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- If you want to write an article about the book, then do so. You can say that such-and-such book was written by such-and-such dude, published in this year, and is about this topic. You can then explain, in your own words, that the concept of the book is based on an acronym. However, before doing any of this, you need to think about whether or not the book is notable. The page I linked you to is just a guideline, but it can help you in determining whether the article's subject merits inclusion in an encyclopedia. -- Merope 16:14, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- You need to describe the material in your own words. Copying other content is not acceptable. Fan-1967 16:16, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
When creating articles, it is a good idea to do a search to see if the article was already created. In this case, there was already one for Hezekiah Walker, therefore Rev. Hezekiah Walker was changed to redirect to that main article. You should add any extra information you may have to that article. Also note that articles names normally don't include a prefix such as Rev. or Dr. - see Billy Graham and Martin Luther King for examples. However, the titles may be part of the article text itself. License tagging for Image:2956589339.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:2956589339.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Image tagging for Image:Image-2956589339.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Image-2956589339.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
