A belated welcome![edit]

Sorry for the belated welcome, but the cookies are still warm!

Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, MyFriendsCallMeSpellcheck. I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:

Rollback[edit]

Hello there Spellcheck. You have been granted the rollback permission on the basis of your recent efforts dealing with vandalism. You should know that the rollback feature can be taken back as quickly as can be given, so use it carefully and only in the case of obvious vandalism. I suggest reading the rollback guidelines and the rollback tutorial. Thank you for your contributions and efforts in the fight against vandalism! CharlieEchoTango (contact) 02:17, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I'll be sure to use it responsibly! :D

Da Ali G Show edit[edit]

Are you serious? I didn't vandalize "Da Ali G Show". I changed the description from "Austrian homosexual" to "gay Austrian". The term "gay" is preferred over "homosexual", and it is preferred as an adjective rather than a noun. I updated an article to reflect current neutral usage. Not every edit involving the word "gay" is vandalism, and you would do well to actually look at what an edit says before you revert it and leave threatening comments on people's talk pages. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.181.232.193 (talk) 07:13, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry if I caused you offence, however, in the country that I live in, "gay" is a derogatory term, and as "homosexual" is the scientific term, as well as the accepted term in my country, I believed your edit to be vandalism. Also, in my defence, I was vandal-checking multiple articles at once. If you wish I can remove my warning from your talk page. I am sorry that we reached this misunderstanding, and hope that it can be overcome. Sorry for any inconvenience, MyFriendsCallMeSpellcheck (talk) 07:25, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

merge[edit]

Dear Queen of Awesome (may I call you Spellcheck?),

Thank you for making Wikipedia better.

I already merged Three-dimensional integrated circuit and 3DS (die stacking), as you suggested.

The merge templates and the instructions on how to use them are, in my opinion, unnecessarily difficult to use. A well-meaning editor, trying to follow the instructions, often ends up doing the exact opposite of what the person who wrote the instructions intended the editor to do. I hope you don't mind me using your suggestion on template talk:Merge#merge discussions as an example of that unintended consequence. --DavidCary (talk) 21:52, 9 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, do what you will with it. :) So long as it's constructive, I have no problem with it. The preceding post was a special message from Her Majesty, the Queen of Awesome 07:15, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay[edit]

Golden Bay Air are holding some seats for us until 21 November

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.

Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.

Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
