Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. Whoa... Slow down
[edit]What are you doing? You've made well over 50 edits in the last 40 minutes to sports articles, every time changing the stat date and an initial stat. Are you pulling these out of some source this quickly? You need to explain what you're doing and what the sources are for your changes. Also, use an edit summary please to explain. Shadowjams (talk) 04:21, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- Come one... 51 edits later...at least use an edit summary. Shadowjams (talk) 04:58, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- Man, what you're doing is not right. You're only changing the date, without even checking that the stats are accurate for that date.I'll save you the trouble - they're not! I've updated all the stats for the Red Sox roster up to and including the games of 17/08/2010, you shouldn't have changed the date to 18/08! Stricken83 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 06:30, 19 August 2010 (UTC).
- For best results, cite sources. At the very least, mention the source in the edit summary. (Ideally, though, the source should be cited in the article itself.) Show exactly where you are getting your information from, so that readers, and other editors, can double-check it. We get reams of vandals who spend their time randomly changing statistics (sports, pop music charts, chlidren's television celebrities, you name it) without communication or edit summary. It's an unfortunate fact of life that you have to differentiate yourself from them, which you can do by providing people with the precise sources for your information, right from the get-go in the edits where you supply that information. Then people can cross-check your information against sources, and see that you're editing in good faith.
And if in the future you come across a novice who is experiencing this same trouble, pass the recommendation to cite sources along. Uncle G (talk) 14:42, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
A clarification
[edit]I've fixed a couple of these pages myself, and I just want to clarify something. The baseball player infobox specifies that the stats listed are through a particular date. This means games that take place on that date are included. For instance, on the Ike Davis page, you updated the date to say August 19. Since the Mets have a game today, it shouldn't say August 19 until it includes stats from today's game.
In any case, hopefully you don't get too troubled by this, as it's an easy mistake to make and shouldn't have started this kind of kerfuffle. Welcome aboard, and happy editing! -Dewelar (talk) 17:21, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- Right, thanks for the pointer. NBAfan321 (talk) 06:56, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Adam Dunn
[edit]Just so you know, your stats update to Adam Dunn was reverted by Carthage44. I undid his revert, which was based on the claim that the stats update can wait until the All-Star break. AutomaticStrikeout (talk) 20:49, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
- You're welcome. He actually un-did quite a few of your edits. In case you are interested, another user has complained at WT:BASEBALL. You can weigh in there, if you like. AutomaticStrikeout (talk) 20:59, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for November 4
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Malik Bouziane, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Massy (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

NFL articles
[edit]I'm not sure if you have been corrected on this but NFL player pages are a little different then NBA (only saying that because of your name). On an NFL player page, when a player becomes a free agent instead of removing the number and leaving it blank like NBA articles, the number gets replaced "--". I know it seems small, but for reasons even I'm not even sure of it's a pet peeve of mine. Part of it is because I hate the way it looks without a number. So please do me a solid and start doing that.--Rockchalk717 16:22, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
