RE: Personal Attack?
[edit]NKH, it still is considered unfounded to view the intention as racist. In my opinion I do not consider the name as offensive and I myself have a username which mentions ethnicity. Why not ask the question about Khoikhoi's name to Khoikhoi directly rather than leaving a message on Jimbo's talk page?¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 23:13, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Explanation
[edit]NKH, I chose the username "Khoikhoi" becuase my previous username was Hottentot, which means "stutterer" in Dutch—the name that the colonists of South Africa called them. "Hottentot" is obviously offensive, which is why I chose the more PC word. "Khoi Khoi" just means "people people" or "men of men", the name that the Khoikhoi themselves prefered. Since that's what they used, I'm not sure what racial concerns you're talking about. At least my username isn't Capoid or Negroid. ;-) Anyways, coming from a liberal part of California, I'm definately not racist. BTW, are you from South Africa? NKH with all do respect your comments on Jimbo's talk page do not provide much evidence still. I have discontinued to leave comments there so as not to unnecessarily clutter up the page. The removal of that picture does not qualify as a vandalism edit. Images are allowed to be removed from articles depending on the intentions of the article's editing. Also, if you notice Image:Steatopygia.jpg's copyright status is also in question, another reason why an image may be removed. As far as other editors complaining, there have been no complaints what-so-ever on the matter of Khoikhoi's username, so how does it apply to this situation?¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 19:03, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- I really doubt that User:Khoikhoi's username was made to "make fun of African people." Then that would implicate that my name could possibly be making fun of Persian people. I regret that you view User:Khoikhoi's intentions as such. This is the last message I am leaving you because I do not desire to stir a pot or antagonise the situation. But please realise that jumping to conclusions in this matter is not fairly just to either User:Khoikhoi or yourself.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 19:18, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Please do not make personal attacks on other people as you did at User talk:Jimbo Wales. Wikipedia has a strict policy against personal attacks. Attack pages are not tolerated by Wikipedia and are speedily deleted. Users who continue to create such pages will be blocked from editing by administrators or banned by the arbitration committee. Thank you. Cbrown1023 22:37, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit]I removed the image because it came across as somewhat racist to me. We don't have an article of a naked French woman in the French people article, and although the image is useful for the Steatopygia page, I think we can have better ones of the Khoikhoi. For example, Image:Khoikhoi.jpg.
I semi-protected my talk page because of the vandalism it faced. Hopefully it won't be necessary eventually. Cheers, Khoikhoi 23:38, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
