Unfortunately I do not have a reference for the claim that converted Sarfatis changed their name to Franco. I was told that by my mother's family who are Sarfati and some other Sephardim. When I visited Spain several educated people confirmed this mentioning that dictator Franco's Jewish ancestry was widely known. This apparently was the reason he made an agreement with the Nazis that Spanish Jews would be protected.
