Les ponts de Paris[edit]

Neddyseagoon & Lazu: I know Neddyseagoon is going to check what I did to the last pont de Paris I reviewed: Pont des Arts, so I am taking the first step this time!

I changed a few "babioles" in every paragraph; however, there are a couple of changes you may not agree with.

Also, in History:

3rd paragraph: "à l'identique", translated by "identically" bothers me, but I cannot find what is at the tip of my tongue (or rather fingertips), so I left it. Since "à l'identique" is a quote from Louis Arretche, could it be left in French with "identical to the original" right after, or would this make the sentence too heavy ?

4th paragraph: in sentence describing artists being drawn to the passerelle ("drawing" & "drawn" separated by only six words) I changed "locale" by "studio en plein air", borrowing the expression from Claude Monet - expression that is also used in English. Again, this may be putting too much French in text.

See you at the next bridge. Frania W. (talk) 02:02, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reference Chouan family[edit]

Hello! Just FYI, if you place this header, {{construction}}, above any new articles that you are working on, it should keep the wolves (like myself) at bay long enough for you to bring the article up to standards! Cheers!--Sallicio 14:07, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, yes, I usually use {{under construction}} - a lot on at the moment! Neddyseagoon - talk 17:12, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:PompeiiHarris.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:PompeiiHarris.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Zginder (talk) (Contrib) 13:38, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:PompeiiNovel.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:PompeiiNovel.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 21:15, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Memoirs of Hadrian.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Memoirs of Hadrian.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 16:35, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Needle-nardle-noo![edit]

I think you've got your Herods mixed up. Herod the Great was the one who massacred the innocents when Jesus was about 0. Herod Antipas (the son of H the Great) was the one who cosied up to Pontius Pilate 33 years later and whose step-daughter was Salome, so the popular culture cat shouldn't be applied to anything about her. I haven't checked the other articles to which you applied the cat. (I have an interest in both Herods, as I played each of them at one time or another in various Mystery Plays!) Best. --GuillaumeTell (talk) 19:05, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, yes, sorry! Think I may have derived that mistake from the Nadal and Voltaire plays, where the Herod character was misnamed Herod the Great.Neddyseagoon - talk 09:44, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to go moving it around in the first place - wasn't sure if the "boro" spelling was right or not. Neddyseagoon - talk 21:18, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ponts sur la Seine à Paris[edit]

RE Passerelle Simone-de-Beauvoir:

(1) part of the text is squeezed between infobox & photo of lens transported on the Seine. Frania W. (talk) 14:09, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No way of avoiding that, short of putting the image in a gallery, which would move it away from the point at which it is relevant. Neddyseagoon - talk 15:03, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I see what you mean about doing anything with the text squeezed between infobox & photo. Thank you for trying. Frania W. (talk) 17:11, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(2) after "lenticular" is it necessary to have "(lens shaped)"? It is like having "circular" (circle shaped). Frania W. (talk) 14:09, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps, though lenticular is far less commonly used and known and thus might need explanation. Neddyseagoon - talk 15:02, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
On which side of the "pond" are we? ¿¿¿ Is not the meaning of "lenticular" obvious to a reader of English ??? Frania W. (talk) 16:16, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE Pont Saint-Michel

As a matter of chronology, it seems to me that the following, which is in the introductory paragraph, should be the last part of the History section.

The present 62m-long bridge dates to 1857 and was designed on three 17.2m arches by Paul-Martin Gallocher de Lagalisserie and Paul Vaudrey. It was the site of many of the killings of the Paris massacre of 1961.

Pont Saint-Michel is served by the Metro station Saint-Michel.

Your thoughts on this? Cordialement, Frania W. (talk) 22:27, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Neddyseagoon. Have a look at these two links please: Some Squadron history & Bio of someone who served in the unit I think the article is well written so far. --Panth (talk) 16:01, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
