My RfA

Hey Nihonjoe,

I just would like to thank you for your support in my recent request for adminship, which passed with a final tally of 54/13/11. I appreciate the trust expressed by members of the community, and will do my best to uphold it.

Naturally, I am still becoming accustomed to using the new tools, so if you have suggestions or feedback, or need anything please let me know. - Gilliam 20:47, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm always glad to help. (^_^) ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 22:18, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

GameTZ Deletion?

Nihon, would you mind adding something to the debate over whether GameTZ should be deleted? Thanks. Dstumme 14:21, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Done. It would be useful if we could find more specific information regarding the various articles (newspaper and magazine) and TV spots so they could be included in the article as references. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 20:46, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Animax series category

Hi, I wanted to update you on the matter of the Series broadcast by Animax category, which was deleted today. In my opinion, I think that most of the negative opinions on the matter were made by editors who were not affiliated with the topic in question and there wasn't really that much of a discussion or "debate" to be honest. Regarding the point you made in the discussion (with which I completely agree), should Animax's original productions be moved now to the main Animax category? Your opinion would, as always, be greatly appreciated! By the way, I've basically modelled my current signature (as well as my talk page) on your own, as I really think it's quite a nice format (^_^). ···巌流? · Talk to Ganryuu 17:36, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

I don't think they need to be categorized by TV station. All the other categorizations are fine. And thanks for the compliments on my sig and userpage. (^_^) ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 20:48, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

HEY MR. DELETER!

LET ME ASK YOU WHAT'S UP WITH YOU DELETING SO MANY ARTICLES! WE THINK OURS ARE NOTABLE AND STILL IN THE PROGRESS OF COMPLETION SO YOU DONT HAVE THAT DAMN RIGHT TO DELETE WHAT YOUU THINK IS UNSATISFACTORY TO YOU! FIRST OF ALL, YOU ARE FROM SOME WORLD AND I DON'T SEE YOU KNOWING EVERY STUFF ESPECIALLY WHEN IT DOESN'T CONCERN YOU OR YOUR KNOWLEDGE! NOW, WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU? YOU JUST DELETE THOSE AND WE OR ANYONE ELSE NO LONGER HAVE THE CHANCE TO POST OR EVEN REWRITE IT FOR REVIEW? THAT MEANS IT IS FOREVER UNWORTHY OF WIKIPEDIA? YES, YOU AHVE A LIFE OUTSIDE WIKIPEDIA BUT FOR CHRIST'S SAKE, AFTER BRINGING BACK OUR FILES, WON'T YOU JUST GO ON WITH YOUR BORING LIFE...OUTSIDE WIKI!

TOTALLY MAD WIKIPEDIAN! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 202.163.197.226 (talkcontribs).

Please calm down and decide whether any policy has been infringed. If it has, present your case here as persuasively as you can. The more capitalization, exclamation points and words such as "hell" you use, the less persuasive you become. -- Hoary 08:03, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Um...okay. First of all, which articles are you talking about? I haven't deleted any for almost a week now, so I have no idea which one(s) you are talking about here. And, as Hoary wrote, please remain calm and civil when interacting with other editors here, even if you're upset. Thanks. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 16:13, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
No, Why don't you stop deleting articles without discussion. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Phishman (talkcontribs).

Llama Llama Song

Here's a copy of my post from the talk page of this article, if you could reply either here or there when you have a mo that would be great. Thanks. " Just to let whoever deleted it know, I came here looking for info about the song (I'm not part of the Wikipedia community) from outside and I was very dissappointed to see it removed. Its an "Internet Meme" bro, part of electronic sub-culture. You're not going to see it in the NY Times, but then again how often is the Wikipedia mentioned there either? I replied on the article talk page. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 07:37, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Dear Nihonjoe,

On Feb. 2, I marked Chapter Three for speedy deletion.

Later that day, you deleted the speedy deletion sign without putting "hangon" on the page or leaving a note on the talk page of Chapter Three, my talk page, or an administrator's talk page.

If you feel that that page should not be deleted, that is fine and you might be right too.

Just please explain yourself more next time and tell why the page should not be deleted, because I'm sure both of us would not want an administrator to delete the page for no reason and for something else unnecessary or bad to happen.

Also, the reason I put the deletion tag on in the first place was because Chapter Three is a very short article providing little context and it also lacks sources.

If you have any questions or comments about what I just said, please feel free to leave a reply on my talk page.

Thanks!

Sincerely,

Psdubow 22:02, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

I removed the speedy tag because it was the middle of a series of articles on a notable TV series and was therefore not speediable. You can see my edit summary here. I don't need to put a "hangon" when I'm removing the tag, and I don't need to leave a not on your talk page or on another admin's page (I'm an admin). The tag was removed, and I left the reason in the edit summary (where I'm supposed to leave it), and another admin is not going to come along and just delete it. Please take your concerns about that article to that article's talk page]]. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 22:10, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, if I bothered you. That was most certainly not my intention.
Also, I did not know that someone does not need to put a "hangon" when removing the tag, and that someone does not need to leave a note on the person's talk page or on another admin's page
I was just more curious about why you think Chapter Three page is important. I was not trying to be argumentative.
I just thought it lacked context and if you can explain to me why you think it is notable and important, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you.
Sincerely,
Psdubow 22:22, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Your comments didn't bother me. I'm just concerned that you don't understand how "hangon" works. The speedy templates clearly indicate that if someone doesn't wish the article to be deleted, they should add the "hangon" template and leave a note on the talk page for the administrator who will come along and make a determination concerning the article. I was the admin who did that, and I determined that since the article was in context (the infobox clearly shows it's an article that's part of the Boston Public series), and that series is definitely notable, and it's likely the stubs were created so they could be filled in soon, they were not speediable. I personally couldn't care less about the Boston Public series, so I have no personal stake in this matter. To me, the series isn't important. However, importance is not a criteria by which we judge articles here. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 22:30, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Okay. Thanks.

Haym Salomon Vandalism

Hi Nihonjoe,

I was just looking at some pages and I came across the Haym Salomon page, and it appears as if someone has vandalized it.

I checked out the history of the article and the edit summary and it seems that the vandal vandalized only earlier today.

Since your an admin and it's your job to deal with these kind of things, can you please deal with this person before they vandalize the Salomon article even more or before they start to vandalize any other articles?

Thanks.

Psdubow 21:33, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

The best thing to do if you notice vandalism is to 1) revert it, 2) post one of the {{test}} templates on the vandal's talk page, and 3) if the vandal is extremely persistent in vandalizing, report the vandal on WP:AIV for a quick response. If appears everything already handled on this one. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 23:00, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I took care of it. I just did what I thought I should of done. It turns out what I did was right.
Okay.
Thanks!
Psdubow 23:03, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Yes, you did a good job. On a non-related topic, you may want to consider taking advantage of the discussion formatting tools that let you indent replies, etc. (using colons to indent your comments, for example.) Also, your comments tend to take up a lot of vertical space, which may irritate some people on the site. Perhaps a more compact method of replying would be worth considering (combining your entire reply into one paragraph, like I'm doing here). It's harder to read comments that are spaced out like yours. Just some friendly, and hopefully useful, advice. (^_^) ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 23:07, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
You know...I never really thought of that. You are probably right. That's some good advice.
thanks. Psdubow 23:40, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

MoPo

Please RESTORE this article - you had NO REASON to delete it and had NO DISCUSSION before hand. Just because you feel it is "non-notable" means nothing according to Wiki rules - the article represents a Community of THOUSANDS of collectors, and is therefore "notable." PLEASE RESTORE ASAP. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.170.201.14 (talkcontribs).

HELLO? Please restore the deleted article, thank you.user:phishman

There were no reliable sources not related to the mailing list which could be used to verify notability. If you can provide those, I'll have no problem restoring the article. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 07:36, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, the MoPo group is WIDELY recognized within the memorabilia collecting community which you obviously have NO experience with. MoPo is referenced at numerous independent on-line resources including: learnaboutmovieposters.com, emovieposter.com, icollectmovieposters.com, posternewsbulliten.com, as well as many fan-sites, and a few commercial dealer sites. MoPo is even referenced and supported by one of the ONLY print magazines for the memorabilia collecting community, mcwonline.com. PLEASE RESTORE THIS ARTICLE. Thank you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.170.201.14 (talk) 19:45, 11 February 2007 (UTC).
HELLO? Please restore the deleted article, thank you.user:phishman
There were no reliable sources not related to the mailing list which could be used to verify notability. If you can provide those, I'll have no problem restoring the article.
I HAVE ALREADY GIVEN YOU PLENTY OF RESOURCES VERIFYING MoPO AS NOTABLE. PLEASE RESTORE THE ARTICLE OR I WILL BRING THIS TO ADMIN AS AN INAPPROPRIATE DELETION OF AN ARTICLE WITHOUT ANY DISCUSSION WHATSOEVER - THAT WAS TOTALLY UNCOOL OF YOU. ::::user:phishman (though added by 207.82.44.3)
As I already indicated, I am an admin. Regardless of that, feel free to bring to the attention of anyone you wish. I've been very forthcoming as to why I deleted the article, and you've been extremely uncooperative in responding to my requests for further information. Unless you respond appropriately to my requests for information, I'll consider this matter closed. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 17:13, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
OK, the issue is NOT CLOSED, if you are an ADMIN then why do you not read the Notability is not subjective portion here:"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:N#Notability_is_not_subjective" You COMPLETELY ignored the resources I provided above, calling me "extremely uncooperative" and apparently feel that they are not good enough? Your opinion, I think. Please, tell me WHY the resources I provided, in both print and on-line media, are not good enough to consitute "reliable?" Again, READ and INVESTIGATE the above resources and you will see what you ignored above. PLEASE REVERT THE DELETED ARTICLE. You know, all you had to do was DISCUSS your Deletion FIRST, and this would have been avoided - you need to take some of the blame here for wiping out another persons hard work - just because you happen to have an uneducated opinion on a subject you obviously know nothing about. In fact, you VIOLATED Wiki policy in doing a speedy deletion "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion"user:phishman (posted by 207.82.44.3)
None of the sources you provided fit the criteria on WP:RS, which requires that multiple, independent, and reliable sources be used to verify the notability of the article subject. All of the sources you provided were directly related to MoPo, and therefore were not independent. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 18:53, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
OK, Now I know you are NOT paying attention. The resources I provided have NOTHING to do with MoPo other than to use MoPo as a reference and resource for people that buy/collect movie posters. The resources I provided are ALL third-party resources and are verifiable within the community of movie poster collectors. That COUNTS according to WP:RS and should not be disregarded because you disagree, or are ignorant of the topic. Furthermore, you DID NOT address my concern about WHY you felt it was OK for speedy deletion when the Wiki policy CLEARLY says you should have had a discussion first. If you still will not revert the deletion than will you at least open it up to OTHER Admins that may not be so judgemental and self-rightous? It would be like me DELETING your article on the "Oneman" simply because I disagree that it is important, or was not notable. user:phishman

An editor has asked for a deletion review of MoPo. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article or speedy-deleted it, you might want to participate in the deletion review. 207.82.44.3 19:28, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Shin-Fuji Station

Can you take a look at Shin-Fuji Station and Shin-Fuji Station (Shizuoka). Verifying a source

Hello, could I ask a favor? There has recently been an addition of rather crucial information to the X Japan article (reunion speculation, actually), accompanied by a web source in Japanese. Now, the respective editor has, regrettably, behaved somewhat problematic in the past, especially when it comes to sources. That's why I'd like to ask, if you could verify the genuineness of the source.

The added text was this:

On 11 February 2007 it was announced that X Japan would probably reunite to mark their 25th anniversary.

Whith this source (blog of the band's singer) to back it up.

On a side note, since you have probably a lot more experience with such things and Wikipedia in general, do you consider my wariness in this matter appropriate or exaggerated? - Cyrus XIII 14:52, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

I think the source may not say exactly that, but I'm not sure. I recommend posting this over on the WikiProject Japan talk page and see if someone else can make sure of what it says. I couldn't see anything definite in that message. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 21:30, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi,

Please check out User talk:63.101.79.2. This IP address has vandalized four times, three of them this month. After the fifth time, don't you guys block the user? Anyway, just please keep an eye on him or her and please tell other admins to do the same.

Thanks!

Psdubow 01:09, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Also, check out ‎User: 70.90.114.137, who has a history of vandalism and has been blocked twice. I'll keep my eye on him, and the next time he vandalizes, I'll alert you. In the event he vandalizes again, can you please just block him indefinitely? Thanks. Psdubow 20:03, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

In addition, check out User: 72.225.232.31. He isn't really as much as a vandal as the other two IPs, but I think User: 72.225.232.31 is working together with User: 63.101.79.2. The reason I think that is those two IPs both vandalize the Haym Salomon page, and both of their edits say something to the effect of "Sam and Zach rock". I'll be on the lookout, and I will alert you if I see anything. Thanks. Psdubow 20:11, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
