Spamming
[edit]Please do not add blatantly unrelated "See also" links to articles, as you did to Lye Town F.C. There is pretty obviously no connection whatsoever between an English amateur football team and a nanotechnology company in America and the edit was completely inappropriate -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 08:24, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
- I don't know what you're talking about. I have no recollections of ever even having seen Lye Town F.C. or any other English amateur football team article. Nirogard (talk) 16:10, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
- There are also too many spammy Altairnano links in articles relating to energy issues -- please remove the less appropriate ones. Thanks. Johnfos (talk) 08:59, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
- Perhaps I've found this request too late but an unable to find any inapporpriate links at this time. I've been seeking discussion in the "Discussion" section and hadn't looked here. I'm guessing that other editors have already removed any links found wanting. Sorry.Nirogard (talk) 16:21, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
A few hints about why the article remains tagged as "advertising": even at the last you described Altairnano as selling "solutions"! Companies don't sell "solutions" (unless you mean "2 liters of gram-molar NaCl to 99.9999% purity" solutions); they sell products. That kind of subtle bias pervades the entire article. This is why we are so draconian about conflict of interest: with the best intentions in the world, it's just plain hard to maintain a truly neutral point of view with regard to something we are invested in (literally or figuratively). --Orange Mike | Talk 19:41, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks Orangemike. You're right; it is plain hard to be neutral. I'm probably not well-suited to technical writing. I hope that, as the editing of this article progresses, the baby won't be tossed out with the bath water. Nirogard (talk) 21:54, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
- I just changed my "solutions" to "products" and found that it was one of two uses of the word in the article. The first time it was used was by some other editor, contributing before me, used to describe the Proterra Company. I'll leave it up to someone else to change that one if necessary.
