Hi
[edit]Are you editing as part of a class project? There seem to be other editors making related edits, and I'm just trying to understand what's going on. Regards, Looie496 (talk) 17:04, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
Yes, it is a class project as a part of the Association for Psychological Science Wikipedia Initiative: http://www.psychologicalscience.org/index.php/members/aps-wikipedia-initiative
We are all trying to edit articles in the field of affective science. Njbetz (talk) 17:12, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. User:Thetmn added material similar to yours to Major depressive disorder, and I felt that I had to revert it. The article you've added it to is a much better place, although I still incline to think the material might work better as a freestanding article, as I explained at User talk:Thetmn. Anyway, the main thing is to maintain some level of interaction. Regards, Looie496 (talk) 17:18, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
Welcome
[edit]Hello, Njbetz and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students. Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, if your class doesn't already have one.
If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Helpme}}
before the question.
Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.
It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}}
on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and should be treated accordingly.
We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! Lova Falk talk 12:13, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
Thank you
[edit]I am the instructor, is there any comparable instructor training that I should be involved in? I am working alongside my University's Wikipedia ambassadors. Njbetz (talk) 14:56, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
- You are the instructor! First let me give you a new welcome (with lots of relevant information). I guess here are the answers. I would just like to inform you about an important difference between Wikipedia and an academic paper or essay. Wikipedia articles should not be based on WP:primary sources, but on reliable, published secondary sources (for instance, journal reviews and professional or advanced academic textbooks) and, to a lesser extent, on tertiary sources (such as undergraduate textbooks). WP:MEDRS describes how to identify reliable sources for medical information, which is a good guideline for many neuropsychology articles as well. With friendly regards, Lova Falk talk 19:14, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
Welcome
