April 2022[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Rockstone35. I noticed that you recently removed content from Singapore without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Thanks, but I did not remove any content. It was merely some reshuffling and paraphrasing which I didn't think would have sufficed an edit summary since they were relatively minor. Nochiern (talk) 05:14, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, my fault, I didn't notice that! Sorry if I was rude!
I don't think mention that Singapore retains capital punishment is undue. For example, the article United States mentions that the US retains capital punishment in its section on the introduction. I'm not trying to WP:Other stuff exists as an argument, but I do think that it warrants at least a brief mention in the introduction. Please let me know what you think! -- RockstoneSend me a message! 05:37, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your response. Ah, I see. But it seems like the content on United States was only added after an extensive discussion, and looking at the talk page archives, its inclusion is still contentious. I also think mentioning capital punishment on the United States introduction shouldn't be there too. Furthermore, the United States is not rated as a good article, but Singapore is, so I feel like additions or changes should be threaded more carefully for the latter as it might jeopardize its status in the future. No objections to mentioning capital punishment, but I don't think it is appropriate for the introduction as it is already extensively discussed later on in the article anyway (as well as having their own stand-alone articles), and putting it there can kinda make it seem like lead fixation. This is why I moved the sentence to the human rights subsection. Other countries such as Japan and Taiwan still actively uses capital punishment as well (with Taiwan also doing it for non-murders) but it is also not reflected in their lead, which is what it should be. Thank you, thinking about it more, I agree with you. I think I'll try to bring up changing the lead on Talk:United States. Thanks! -- RockstoneSend me a message! 06:35, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
