Football (soccer) names[edit]

Dear Norbutt2001,

There is a reason why the Football (soccer) Names of the game section is streamlined and with its own dedicated article. Please refer to this background information before making further edits.

AFC[edit]

You said on talk:football (soccer) -

AFC generally means Athletic Football Club rather than Association Football club, good examples are Charlton Athletic F.C., Sunderland Athletic F.C. & Oldham Athletic F.C. Although it really can mean just about anything, for example after the merger of Sudbury Town and Sudbury Wanderers they became known as AFC Sudbury meaning Amalgamated Football Club. Norbutt2001

Er no. Try AFC Wimbledon, AFC Bournemouth, Hull City A.F.C., Cardiff City A.F.C. (as it should be referred to), Huddersfield Town A.F.C., Durham City A.F.C., Mossley A.F.C. and Wrexham A.F.C. where for all of them the A in AFC stands for Association. Also note that for you your examples: Sunderland are Sunderland A.F.C. and the A stands for Association not Athletic - and Oldham are Oldham Athletic A.F.C., the full name being "Oldham Athletic Association Football Club " not "Oldham Athletic Athletic Football Club" Jooler 00:11, 16 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Image copyright problem with Image:NplUk-1-.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:NplUk-1-.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
