A tag has been placed on User:Nordnik, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Get a paste.com account. You can put any text files (includes XML and wikipedia stuff -- like what I am typing here) you want there without anyone deleting them for advertising. Azemocram (talk) 07:46, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, user pages are often abused as a vehicle for spam. Your highly promotional advertisement for your charity is no exception Jimfbleak - talk to me? 18:35, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've moved the article here for the time being. Comments to follow very soon. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:15, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Why is there a spamlink right after the opening Charity Checks? - org's website should be an external link
  • is the nonprofit organization... no sources for any of this paragraph which claims uniqueness, and also says donors who give them as gifts know that the money will be used to benefit a charity unsourced claim
  • to Give the Joy of Giving more directly. syrupy slogan, non-enc
  • 501(c)(3) charity OK in principle but meaningless to non-US citizens
  • History. Para 1 is unsourced
  • The pilot test was a success... unsourced spammy claim
  • Uses of Giving Certificates consumers generated a myriad of new uses for them. unsourced spammy claim. Why is it all capitalised?
  • An Alternative to Commercial Gifts Why is it all capitalised? Why does an encyclopaedia have a section with this title?
  • which makes it possible to Give the Joy of Giving sloganising again
  • This made Giving Certificates a popular choice among people evidence
  • The Washington Post etc refs are fine, but one-sided. Has there never been any criticism of this scheme. Remember you need balance.
  • Pre-Paid Philanthropy First paragraph makes a string of unsourced claims eg Some donors use... these people donate it all to Charity Checks at the end of December, fully intending to use the Giving Certificates themselves during the coming year. Evidence?
  • Furthermore, because they already have their receipt in-hand, they can make donations anonymously, thereby keeping their names off annoying mailing and call lists. Evidence?
  • Philanthropy With Training Wheels Some families report using Giving Certificates to train their children... pure unsourced or WP:OR spam
  • The prestigious Harvard-Westlake School evidence for claim
Your hidden comment suggests that you do not take on board the purpose of Wikipedia. It is not to "memoralise" a charity, it is not the charity's page, it is not your page, it is an encyclopaedia. I know some charities think they can ignore the rules because they are non-commercial, and indeed some suspect stuff slips through, but this is an encyclopaedia. My comment yesterday was brusque, and I apologise for that, I was in a rush. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:44, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Incidentally, I've formatted the LA Times ref to show you how it should be done to look more professional Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:51, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
