Hello Pennant Marketing. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Pennant Marketing. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Pennant Marketing|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. --VVikingTalkEdits 13:51, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for you for your advice and sharing all the links. I am in the process of reading through them. This was my first time editing a page, so I didn't realise the impact the name could have. I have made a request to change my name, to avoid any confusion down the line. Pennant Marketing (talk) 08:26, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

February 2021[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Pennant Marketing", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because seems to indicate you represent a company, specifically Pennant International. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. - Ahunt (talk) 18:53, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ahunt, Thank you for you message. I have requested to update my user name. This is my first time editing a page and I did not read the name listed fully in detail, so this is my own fault. As this was the first page I spotted to edit, I just opted for this. Thank you. Pennant Marketing (talk) 21:21, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I see that you have requested a user name change. Just a suggestion, but I would not ask for a new name with the word "marketing" in it, as it will get your edits scrutinized for WP:SPAM. Wikipedia does not allow anyone to do marketing here. - Ahunt (talk) 21:25, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the tip Ahunt. Will look to request a new one. Pennant Marketing (talk) 07:37, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
