Princess Alice of Battenberg

[edit]

Hello there! I saw your recent edit (which has since been reverted) on Princess Alice of Battenberg. I wanted to clarify why she is, in that photo, Princess Andrew and not Princess Alice. That photo was taken after she had been married. Prior to her marriage, she was a German princess in her own right, styled as Her Serene Highness Princess Alice of Battenberg. Upon marriage, however, she became a Greek and Danish princess by right of her husband, and became Her Royal Highness Princess Andrew of Greece and Denmark. It isn't some sexist bias by an editor to call her Princess Andrew. It was, indeed, her title at that time in her life. I know, it's not a progressive practice, but very often monarchy and nobility are not progressive, particularly toward women in these situations. Now the Greek family has seemed to have done away with such practices as Marie-Chantal, Crown Princess of Greece does not go by Crown Princess Pavlos.
