Thanks for uploading Image:Cartwrighthall.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. Clutter and page[edit]
Hello, I added most of the pictures, I'm not familiar with Wikipedia I was trying to teach myself. However I do think that Kent State needs more pictures than it had, the page looks pathetic compared to some schools. Edit what you want but try to incorporate some of the pictures in please.

KSU To-Do[edit]
Sure man...I'll see what I can do. A lot of what needs to be done on the KSU page is organizing and cleaning up the references (and adding a lot more), plus the entire notable programs section needs to be written in actual paragraphs. The pieces are there for this to be a great article, but it just needs to be organized and expanded. One option I looked at and proposed on the Kent State University Stark Campus page was starting a Kent State Wikiproject. Several other universities have them and I think it would help get the ball rolling on improving the main KSU article as well as the other campuses (many of which don't even have articles yet).

- Re: Florence picture- I'm not sure if you uploaded it to Wikimedia Commons but if not, open an account there and upload it, as long as it is a public domain image. When you upload it, make sure you fill out the entire template for public domain (it will be there automatically) and categorize it under the category Kent State University. Usually, pics get deleted because they are not tagged properly as public domain or if not PD then they don't have a full or valid rationale behind their presence. I have uploaded several pics to the Commons and using them is the same as using them on Wikipedia (same name and everything). On my Wikipedia user page is a link to my Commons page if you want to see some examples. Again, only public domain images (your own work) can be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. Hey welcome back. I see you've been busy with the camera like me. Great additions to the KSU-related articles. Just a quick pointer, while it's wonderful you uploaded your pics to the Commons, be sure to categorize them when uploading them there. I categorized the 2 pictures you used for Dix Stadium into the Commons category Dix Stadium. For your general KSU uploads of the buildings, there is a general category Kent State University as well as a Kent State University athletics category for the other sports facilities besides the MAC Center, Ice Arena, and Dix Stadium, which all have their own sub categories. The categories make it easier to use your pictures in other related articles, plus you can also see what pictures have already been taken so you don't get any duplicates (unless you can get a better picture of course!). - Fantastic! You have a great camera, so your pictures are very high quality; much better than I can currently get. I went ahead and categorized the ones you recently uploaded. What that will do is put them in a gallery on the Commons that can be accessed by anyone reading the KSU article on Wikipedia. It's a small box at the bottom of the article that says "Wikimedia Commons has media related to Kent State University" or something like that. When uploading on the Commons, picking the category is a little different. It's right near the bottom and has a little (+) sign near it. You just click on that and start typing whichever category you want to use until the system starts trying to match it, then click OK once it does. Pictures[edit]
Hey man. Thanks again for all your pictures. I do have a few cautions in the placement of them. First, try to avoid placing galleries in the articles (see WP:IG for more specifics). That is the purpose of the Commons now, so instead of having a gallery, we instead have that small box at the end I mentioned above which directs readers to the Commons category. The gallery tool is generally for times when the subject cannot be properly explained without multiple pictures. Also, when placing a picture in a particular part of the article, do your best to make sure it has relevance to the section rather than just being decorative. The pictures are there to not just add ambiance, but also to add to the content, so they should fit in. In the case of the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center, avoid putting pictures into the intro, mostly because of what it does to the text. They are GREAT pictures, but can easily be placed in other sections or the pictures can be made smaller in the article. And again, if a picture just can't fit, we can make sure the link to the Commons category is there. Having pictures in an article is GREAT but too many can be a bad thing. Gardens[edit]
Unfortunately, unless your source is third-party (like notable outside awards or recognition), there is no need for a description of each garden. Even then, what I removed made no mention of anything notable about the specific gardens. Gardens like that are very common on large college campuses like Kent State, so including them in an encyclopedic article only makes sense if they are highly notable for some reason. Please see my comments on Talk:Kent State University. I very much appreciate your efforts to add pictures and content to the KSU related articles, but just remember that there is such a thing as too many pictures and just because information is interesting doesn't necessarily mean it's encyclopedic. Also become familiar with Wikipedia policies and guidelines, such as the Manual of Style and what Wikipedia is not. In terms of getting a reference, always wait to add info to an article until you have it. Again, make sure that reference is neutral whenever possible (see WP:SOURCES). Another great place to go is the Wikiproject page for the Colleges and Universities Wikiproject. There you can find guidelines specific for this type of article as well as examples of articles about colleges and universities that have been featured, such as Dartmouth College and Michigan State University among others. Yes it really should be moved to its own page. I really like how the alumni section is put together at University of Michigan#Notable people and alumni. It has a full separate list, but keeps a sizeable section in the main article to still grab the reader's attention. See also List of University of Michigan alumni.
