I am Dr. Antonio Damasio's Executive Assistant at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Dr. Damasio has requested that some changes be made to his Wikipedia information to insure complete accuracy, and to update the information contained on the page.

The common usage of Dr. Damasio's name, even in Portugal, does not carry accent marks on his first or last name, and he has never published material with accents in his names. He would like the title header to reflect this. Is there any way to undo the redirect and have his information revert to the original "Antonio Damasio" page? That would be his preference.

Also, he does not use his middle name(s) at this point. All references should be to Antonio Damasio with no other name included.

Additionally, just to answer an earlier discussion thread, Dr. Damasio became a citizen of the United States in 1988.

Thank you so much for helping to insure the accuracy of Dr. Damasio's page.

Hello, PamelaMcNeff. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Antonio Damasio, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:23, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

More on editing Antonio Damasio

[edit]

Hi there. What OrangeMike posted above is a standard cut-paste, so I thought I'd focus it a bit. Even if (and its probably true) the changes you made are completely reasonable, there have been so many unpleasant instances of people using Wikipedia to promote themselves that many editors have come feel that subjects (and people associated with them) should abstain from editing their articles pretty much at all, so that other editors don't have to feel constantly on guard against self-promotion. You'll find good discussions of this at WP:COI and WP:AUTOBIO.

I recommend that instead of making changes directly, you leave a message at Talk:Antonio Damasio listing the factual points you think should be added / changed, including links to supporting sources. Then other editors will come by and put the material into the article in their own words. By keeping yourself one step removed from the article itself you'll avoid triggering the sometime hypersensitive reaction editors sometimes have to "interested editing." I'm contacting you here on your Talkpage as an introduction, but continued discussion should probably take place at Talk:Antonio Damasio.

I hope you noticed that, finally, I got around to fixing the "accent problem" [1].

Replaceable fair use File:Hanna Damasio at the DNI.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Hanna Damasio at the DNI.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 16:53, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:CP Miss America 1980.jpeg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 17:45, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
