A heads-up

Hi Pyrotec, just to let you know that it has emerged in discussions elsewhere that one of the contributors to the metric system related articles that you are GA-reviewing is probably an active member of an organization that devotes its resources to exaggerating the benefits of the metric system, including trying to make it sound less of a foreign and more for an Anglo-American initiative for the UK/US audience. They also attempt to belittle and undermine the imperial/customary/English systems. You will need to check the NPOV aspects, the weight given to fringe theories and the reliability of all the references in those articles very, very, carefully. Thanks for that information. Pyrotec (talk) 17:05, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Former Albion Explosives Factory

Hi Pyrotec,

I stumbled across the wiki article 'ROF Bishopton' while searching for information on the Albion Explosives Factory, now renamed Cairnlea, in Victoria, Australia. I can see that you had significant input into this. I was wondering if you had some additional information on this or anything relating to the former Albion Explosives Factory?

Any information on the Albion Explosives factory would be greatly appreciated.

As I'm not familiar with wiki protocol, I will await your reply before posting my email address.

Thanks in advance, :)

Sorry for the delay, I've been inactive for a few days. I assume that this was at some time an ICI Australia owned plant? Let me see what info, if any, I have. This could take a few days. Pyrotec (talk) 18:37, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
To the best of my knowledge I don't think ICI owned it but they were heavily involved in construction and operation of behalf of the Australian Department of Defence. They owned the site next door (now called Orica) which is still used today. I found this website which is helpful but any additional info that you might have would be great. History of the metric system

Hello Pyrotec, could you please take the time to comment on your reasons for reverting my creation of a new section, in the History of the metric system article, for metric system rejections, such as the mesures usuelles, in the section I have started on the article talk page. Thanks. Credibility gap (talk) 21:19, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Yes of course. I'm happy to do so. Pyrotec (talk) 21:21, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Good morning,

What are you plans for the review of the International System of Units GA?

Thanks,

Hi Garamond Lethe. My plan is to continue to review the article down to the end and then go back and look at the Lede. Its taken much longer than I would have hoped. If I'm able to pass the article without any additional corrective actions, I will do so (note: as a reviewer I can choose to do, or not to do so, minor corrective actions myself). If there are corrective actions that I require to be done, I will record them in the review and put the article "On hold" in the hope that someone will fix them. If they are not fixed in a reasonable time I will fail the nomination or remove the "offending text". On average I fail only about 10% of what I review, so I'd prefer get a article up to GA-status than "fail it". Pyrotec (talk) 19:19, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, that all sounds reasonable. I'll keep an eye on the review page and, if I'm able, will help to address any of the larger issues you identify. Garamond Lethet

That would be great. Thanks. Pyrotec (talk) 22:19, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
Glad to see the process completed successfully without my having to dive in. Thanks for the thorough and careful review. Garamond Lethet

GAN December 2013 Backlog Drive

Hello! A GAN Backlog Drive will begin in less than 4 days!

In past Backlog Drives, the goal was to reduce the backlog of Good article nominations. In the upcoming drive, another goal will be added - raising as much money as we can for the Wikimedia Foundation. How will this work? Well, its pretty simple. Any user interested in donating can submit a pledge at the Backlog Drive page (linked above). The pledge should mention the amount of money the user is willing to donate per review. For example, if a user pledges 5 cents per review and 100 nominations are reviewed, the total donation amount is $5.00.

At the time this message was sent out, two users have submitted pledges for a total of 8 cents per review. All pledges, no matter how much money, are greatly appreciated. Also, in no way is this saying you must make a pledge.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or leave a message on the Backlog Drive talk page. And remember, there are less than 4 days before the drive starts!--EdwardsBot (talk) 03:15, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

Hello, Thank you in advance for your review. Would you please contact me with my new user name Gtaf. With best regards. Christian COGNEAUX (talk) 20:52, 29 November 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. I don't contact you directly, its done by a bot using the information in the {{GA nominee}} template on the Talk:Carrière des Nerviens Regional Nature Reserve page. I've changed, on your behalf, the nominator's name on the article's talkpage from Christian COGNEAUX to Gtaf, so hopefully that will point the bot to the right user. However, another bot has not yet updated the Wikipedia:Good article nominations page, so you might still get contacted via Christian COGNEAUX. Pyrotec (talk) 21:07, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. I will watch the two pages. Gtaf (talk) 21:20, 29 November 2013 (UTC)

Widerøe Flight 933

I have fixed the issues per the GAN at Widerøe Flight 933. Should your itinerary allow it, send me an e-mail and I'd be more than happy to give you a tour of the historic sites of Bergen. Arsenikk (talk) 23:05, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

GAN December 2013 Backlog Drive

If you have any questions or want to comment about something regarding the drive, post them here--EdwardsBot (talk) 00:08, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
