License tagging for File:Cover Drums & Percussion Magazine Jan. 2020.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Cover Drums & Percussion Magazine Jan. 2020.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. Non-free rationale for File:Cover Drums & Percussion Magazine Jan. 2020.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Cover Drums & Percussion Magazine Jan. 2020.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 00:33, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies that I'm not quite that adept at tagging things. I'm just teaching myself now. I thought "non-free" meant you had to subscribe to the magazine as opposed to a free publication.
I deal with copyrights all the time and magazine covers are considered promotion/publicity for the content contained within so I wasn't sure how to tag it. I may be overthinking this but I'd appreciate any tips.
The photo on the cover of the magazine is owned by me. It's the same photo on the infobox, but it was provided to the magazine as cover art. Publicity photos can be broadly used for promote but not to sell another products (i.e. put the photo on a shirt).
I could simply take photograph of the cover of a hard copy of the magazine and the entire new photo copyright would belong to me. I'm struggling to even navigate back to where I should make these changes.
Any help in correctly tagging this media type considering the rationale for its use is appreciated. Qwertymerty3456 (talk) 01:29, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
