Notice of Edit warring noticeboard discussion[edit]

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. The thread is Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring#User:RealNMMP reported by User:SL93 (Result: ). Thank you. SL93 (talk) 23:50, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

August 2013[edit]

You have been blocked from editing for a short time for your disruption caused by edit warring and violation of the three-revert rule. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Your use of multiple Wikipedia accounts[edit]

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/RealNMMP, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Request reason:

I am a sergeant with New Mexico Mounted Patrol. New Mexico Mounted Patrol is all volunteer law enforcement agency in the State of New Mexico, and we have been in existence since 1941. Users like Mean as Custard, have posted false and slanderous information on the Wiki page for New Mexico Mounted Patrol. I am authorized by our board and our Chief, Dan Girand, to insure the Wiki page has accurate information. People like Mean as Custard, and Flyer22 should be prohibited from editing the page. I am asking that the page be reverted back to the edits I (RealNMMP) made, and that the page be protected. This page is a representation of a law enforcement agency and it needs to be accurate RealNMMP (talk) 02:16, 12 August 2013 (UTC)RealNMMP[reply]

Decline reason:

{{subst:Sergeant, you don't seem to understand how we work here. We don't allow the subjects of articles to control what is said about them, and indeed discourage anybody who has as severe a conflict of interest as you do from editing the article at all. If you believe there are incorrect items in the article, discuss it on the article's talk page; and drop the combative attitude and the bogus accusations against editors, especially the word "slanderous" which a law enforcement office should know is a term with a legal meaning. We don't take kindly to anything which implies you are threatening legal action against this project in order to get your way.}} Orange Mike | Talk 02:39, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy. It also appears that your account is intended to be used for the purpose of telling the world about an organization or cause that you consider worthwhile. Unfortunately, many good causes are not sufficiently notable for their own Wikipedia article, and all users are discouraged from editing in any area where they have an inherent conflict of interest. You may wish to consider one of these alternative outlets.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.

Our website is www.nmmountedpatrol.com Our Chief is Dan Girand, who lives in Roswell New Mexico.<redacted attacks on named individual(s)> and revert the edits back to the edit I have posted, which is factual. Furthermore, please protect this page. Lastly, this is the only Wiki account I have. Other troopers with New Mexico Mounted Patrol have assisted in keeping this page factual, such as NMMP-ISO. Thank you.RealNMMP (talk) 02:33, 12 August 2013 (UTC)RealNMMP[reply]

I have attempted in the past to ask the false information not be posted, as it does not accurately portray who we are. Our agency is in no way "threatening" legal action. We are simply asking that those who edit, do so with factual information. Those who are posting false information, are doing so intentionally, with the goal of destroying the organization.— Preceding unsigned comment added by RealNMMP (talkcontribs)
