Wisconsin Historical Markers

I asked at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Wisconsin#Historical markers. I vaguely recalled something to that effect. In Wikipedia, it's best to assume that something is copyrighted, unless you know specifically otherwise. You'd think they're public domain, since they're owned by the public, but the government doesn't always release its intellectual property. Besides that, I'm not even sure if those are owned by the government. Wisconsin photographs

If you open to the possibility, there a category for requested photographs in Wisconsin (Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Wisconsin). What I do instead is to take pictures of any city that I visit (usually through a clean windshield). If there's already a good picture, then I don't upload what I took. Sometimes I look at the articles on my route before I leave to see if it's worth taking pictures. I like taking pictures of downtowns, city halls, business areas, welcome signs, DOT population signs, high schools, and other interesting buildings (often they are historic places that have articles), etc. Whatever strikes me as the most interesting part of town. File:FSLC5.JPG is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:FSLC5.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:FSLC5.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move.
