Welcome!

[edit]

Greetings, and welcome to Wikipedia! I notice you claim Essjay brought you here. Well, he's nothing but trouble, but I'm sure you'll be fine!

Here are some pages you might want to visit:

  • Wikipedia:Simplified Ruleset: A simple overview of the guidelines of the Wikipedia community.
  • Wikipedia:How to edit a page: Everything you ever really wanted to know about formatting and markup, but were afraid to ask.
  • Wikipedia:Manual of style: Now that you know how to edit a page, how should you write in it?
  • Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not: ...and what shouldn't you write in it?
  • Wikipedia:Sandbox: Here's the place to do editing tests without worrying about messing anything up.
  • Wikipedia:Glossary: Words specific to Wikipedia and wiki culture (for example, the tendency to stick "wiki" in front of everything!) and frequently used abbreviations that you might encounter.
  • Wikipedia:FAQ: Questions and answers about various topics, including technical aspects, copyright, and a general overview of the project.
  • Wikipedia:Help desk: Got a question not answered in any of the help materials, or just can't find it (understandable, even for someone who's been around a while)? Ask it here!
  • Wikipedia:Village pump: Want to see what's going on around Wikipedia? Here's where people are talking.
  • Wikipedia:Community Portal: Just about anything else you as a Wikipedia editor might want to find is linked from here.

Finally, if you haven't already, feel free to sign your name to the Wikipedia:New user log and add yourself to the various listings of Wikipedia:Wikipedians! Also, remember to sign your name on Talk pages (but not articles) with "~~~~" to leave your signature and a timestamp. Thanks for your contributions so far, and happy editing! Hey babe, glad to have you aboard, now don't go causing any trouble! -- Essjay · Talk 05:39, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and I'll go edit your CSS & JS pages so the display looks like the one on my comp, don't want you getting confused. ;-) -- Essjay · Talk 05:41, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, there is a good start on a userpage, put in a few things about what you'd like to do on Wikipedia, etc. If you have questions, you know where to find me, or you can do what everybody else does and just steal it from someone else's page. ;-) -- Essjay · Talk 12:26, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yup,it's right. Tan DXiang

Hi Robbie.

We're trying to contact Essjay about a problem with a mediation request. Since his talk page indicated he was very busy, is there someone else who could handle this? DJ Clayworth 21:32, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sock?

[edit]

There has been some speculation that you might be a sockpuppet of Essjay's. Could you clear that up? Derex 02:01, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What would it matter if he was? What a thoroughly offensive thing to post. Grace Note 10:16, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It would matter because Robbie voted for Essjay in an election for bureaucrat. That's fine if Robbie is Essjay's partner. However, if Robbie is simply part of Essjay's extended cover, then it would indicate very poor judgement. Rather than assume Robbie is a sock, as many are doing (see Kelly Martin's blog for example), I'm simply asking. I do not understand why you find that question offensive given that (a) there is widespread speculation (b) Essjay has admittedly fabricated the rest of his background. No offense is intended to Robbie, but I do think it is a legitimate question given the totality of circumstances, and "not a sock" is a perfectly acceptable answer. That said, given Jimbo's request for Essjay's resignation, the question is no longer of pressing importance. Derex 10:41, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet?

[edit]

So was this account just a sockpuppet of Essjay? I will assume so- this is not funny at all. --ProtectWomen 19:43, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Message regarding your use of the No Multi License Template

[edit]

In case you are not aware, the Wikimedia Foundation has proposed that the copyright licensing terms on the wikis operated by the WMF – including Wikipedia – be changed to include the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC-BY-SA) license in addition to the current GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) as allowed by version 1.3 of the GFDL. The community has approved this change with 75.8% in favor, and on June 15, 2009, the change will take effect.
You currently have {{NoMultiLicense}} on your user or user talk page, which states that your edits are licensed under the GFDL only. On or before June 15, this template will be changed to reflect Wikipedia's new licensing terms. If you accept the licensing change, you do not need to do anything (and feel free to remove this message); if you do not accept it, we regret that you will no longer be able to contribute to the encyclopedia. Please join the discussion at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#NoMultiLicense template if you have any comments.
