User talk:HARP TOOK BAR SET

What happened there was of no use. There is no point getting into some edit war with a blocked editor on their own talk page. Alert an admin, and leave it be--in the end, the only thing it accomplished was a dozen more edits that needed to be revdeleted. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 02:37, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

@Drmies: Pretty late to bring that up, but I did "alert" an admin. I wouldn't say there was no point; I figured it was a good idea to revert personal attacks wherever possible. If you look at the history, you might realize I "let [that] be" after like five minutes of the "edit war"; though last time I checked, reverting obvious vandalism wasn't considered edit warring, but, anyway, thanks for whatever this is the advice. —RainFall 04:40, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Just leave his signature. The user behind the ip was alternating between .180 , .177 and .179 of the ip range. Also other ip that have same behaviour pattern, either himself/herself or member of tag team. As well as he never use his user talk and just blank it, let him leaving his desired ip (either .180 , .177 and .179 of his choice) as sign. Matthew hk (talk) 06:00, 24 March 2019 (UTC)

@Matthew hk: Okay, sure thing. I wasn't changing their signature though; I merely linked it to their contribution page. —RainFall 06:22, 24 March 2019 (UTC)

Thank you

I can see there’s been a lot of vandalism you guys do a great job reverting these edits. Mikemyers345 (talk) 06:06, 25 March 2019 (UTC)

@Mikemyers345: Thanks. While you're here, you might want to explain this edit. —RainFall 06:09, 25 March 2019 (UTC)
That happens sometimes when reverting it already happened 2 times already. Mikemyers345 (talk) 06:14, 25 March 2019 (UTC)
Nice user box Mikemyers345 (talk) 06:17, 25 March 2019 (UTC)
(ec) Thanks again. And about the revert: two times? That edit wasn't actually a revert/undo 'cause I didn't get any notification. Also, your "reverts" are tagged as mobile edits; AFAIK, Twinkle and Huggle don't run on mobile. Not that you are obliged to share, but I'm interested to know what tool (if any) you've been using. —RainFall 06:25, 25 March 2019 (UTC)

IP addresses, banning

Sorry to start here to address my issue, but did not know who else to turn to.

For years, simply made edits anonymously. Then recently, when attempting to edit, noticed my IP blocked. Where might I discuss this issue, and also get advice on what to do to prevent future probs? Evidently, someone else was doing edits via my IP address. No one has access to any of my devices, so I am a bit perplexed as to how this occurred. Perhaps that issue is not even relevant, though. I am assuming that this IP issue occurs a lot nowadays, and that individuals are simply encouraged to sign on when making edits.

I would like to clarify that I did create a user account. Although that is fairly self-evident, as I am writing you from this account.

Thanks a million!

@Apt411: Hello. I don't see much of an issue here. It's common for IP addresses to be "shared" by multiple people using the internet from the same area as you. As you haven't mentioned the IP in question, I'm assuming, and it is very likely, that someone else used the same IP (not the same device) and got themself blocked for their "unconstructive" edit(s). By creating an account, you've done what was needed to be done to "prevent future probs." Now that you've created this account, FWIW, I suggest you have a strong password and remember to log yourself out or use private mode if you use Wikipedia from a public computer. Happy editing! —RainFall 11:23, 4 April 2019 (UTC)

Super... was hoping this would be the case, on all points. (And have to admit I was a bit freaked by the whole affair, so truly appreciate your clarification.) I did not want to list IP as I thought this might be a no-no. All the best!

A barnstar for you!

The Original Barnstar
RainFall, thank you so much for jumping in on this discussion where a user had a question, and for providing a solution that was helpful and gave the user exactly what he was looking for. This exact kind of helpful attitude and diligence is incredibly beneficial to Wikipedia and makes much more of a positive impact on this project and on other users than you think. It's becoming more rare to see this kind of helpful attitude around here as time goes by, and if I can tell you one thing that will stick with you forever while you're an editor here, it's this: Do not let yourself change or lose that helpful attitude that you have, and don't let anyone try and take it away from you. It's a rare quality that can't be easily taught or learned, and it's a bright star of light in what would be a room full of darkness. Keep up the excellent work, and keep making Wikipedia a great place to volunteer and contribute to. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:28, 12 May 2019 (UTC)
@Oshwah: Thank you for your kind words; I'm happy I could help and I definitely will try to not let anyone wreck my "helpful attitude." ;) Come to think about it, I might just start working on the coffee-delivering script... lol. —RainFall 06:36, 12 May 2019 (UTC)
Do it, man! ...And hook me up once you get it working! ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:38, 12 May 2019 (UTC)
As the one helped out, thank you very much! - BilCat (talk) 08:18, 12 May 2019 (UTC)
