Account question[edit]

Any association with User:SCC California? (Did you lose your password?) Mélencron (talk) 23:51, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No; I did not know of this account (apparently its first and only contribution was today). I can see why you suspected it - its contribution was on an article that I have been editing (and the very similar name). My username stands for Santa Clara County, California, where I live. On second thought, I am wondering if this user was trying to impersonate me. I am not a well-known user by any means, but they may have been scrolling through the edits at 2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries and used a name similar to mine to gain validity. I don't mean to make a baseless accusation - this is just a possible explanation. SCC California (talk) 03:26, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@SCC California: I'm guessing it might be attempted impersonation; I reported a similar account (Mélencron 2.0 (talk · contribs)) to WP:UAA recently. Mélencron (talk) 11:22, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I am not familiar with this user. I simply am an SEC fan living in Northern California. --SEC California (talk) 19:03, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to hear it. Coincidences abound! SCC California (talk) 20:32, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
