Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, SS Bendure Hartwig, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was American Income Life Insurance Company, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! --Finngall talk 18:00, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to American Income Life Insurance Company. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. --Finngall talk 18:00, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please explain why I cannot promote my company on Wikipedia? SS Bendure Hartwig (talk) 18:04, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Because Wikipedia is an encylopedia, not a free webhost. Please stop editing the article immediately and read the links to Wikipedia's policies above. --Finngall talk 18:08, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. I am not here to advertise my company, but only add relevant information about it. Please respect this. I am not here to violate Wikipedia policy, but to follow its guidelines and add important information. SS Bendure Hartwig (talk) 18:13, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia only has articles on notable subjects which have in-depth coverage in a wide variety of independent and reliable sources. Searching for your company does not reveal anything in the way of the type of coverage required and therefor it would be inappropriate to have an article about your company. Thanks, Praxidicae (talk) 18:15, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

My company, American Income Life Insurance Company, does have its own article. I would like to incorporate some more information about each of its divisions. SS Bendure Hartwig (talk) 18:17, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

My advice is that you:
  1. Review Wikipedia's mandatory and non-negotiable policy on paid editing.
  2. Make the proper disclosure of your employment using the {{paid}} template on your userpage (User:SS Bendure Hartwig).
  3. Become familiar with Wikipedia's notability criteria for companies and organizations, with particular attention to the section on the notability of subsidiaries. An exhaustive description of the company's divisions may be considered unsuitable.
  4. Suggest edits on the article talk page (Talk:American Income Life Insurance Company) with the {{request edit}} template. Be prepared to state what changes or additions you wish to have made to the article, and provide links to reliable and independent sources to back them up.

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page.
