Thaksin Article rewrite...[edit]

Please could you assist with the neutralising of the Thaksin Shinawatra article? My edits are always reverted. Given your 3rd opinion on the talk pages, perhaps I could take you up on your offer to edit the page?Zontrax 23:57, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another specific request on the Thaksin Shinawatra article[edit]

Thank you for your 3rd party suggestions! I have implemented all of the points, as detailed in the Talk page.

There's another specific paragraph in the Thaksin Shinawatra article that Zontrax and I are debating: the 4th paragraph in the introduction, which lists criticisms and attacks on Thaksin. He thinks my version is POV and calls me a vandal, I think my version is less redundant and fits the flow of the introduction better. He suggests that we ask for your opinion.

Here's Zontrax's:
However, his government was frequently challenged with allegations of corruption, dictatorship, demagogy, treason, conflicts of interest, serious human rights abuses, managing a violent but effective war against drugs, acting undiplomatically, tax evasion, the use of legal loopholes and hostility towards a free press.[1] A controversial leader, his opponents also accused him of lèse-majesté, selling domestic assets to international investors, and religious desecration.[2][3] He was subject to several assassination attempts. A series of attacks in 2005 and 2006 by Sondhi Limthongkul and his People's Alliance for Democracy destroyed Thaksin's name and reputation.[4] Independent Human Rights organisations, such as Amnesty International have expressed concerns over human rights abuses under the Thaksin government. The indepedent Human Rights Watch branded Thaksin "a human rights abuser of the worst kind" for presiding over the extrajudicial deaths of 2,500 people and media suppression[5].

Here's Patiwat's:
However, his government was frequently challenged with allegations of corruption, dictatorship, demagogy, treason, conflicts of interest, acting undiplomatically, tax evasion, the use of legal loopholes and hostility towards a free press.[6] Human Rights Watch called Thaksin "a human rights abuser of the worst kind", citing media supression and a popular but violent anti-drug campaign that resulted in thousands of deaths.[7] A controversial leader, his opponents also accused him of lèse-majesté, selling domestic assets to international investors, and religious desecration.[8][9] He was subject to several assassination attempts. A series of attacks in 2005 and 2006 by Sondhi Limthongkul and his People's Alliance for Democracy destroyed Thaksin's name and reputation.[4]

Your suggestions on this paragraph in the Talk page would be most appreciated. I'd also like your opinion on whether or not I'm a vandal. I've spent well over a year on this article and have moved several articles to FA and GA status, and do not like being accused of vandalism. Patiwat 07:21, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Scottjar, I accepted to stop my edits in the article because of COI and now I just make suggestions at the discussion page. But User:Athaenara doesn't care about suggested references (reliable and most of them from 3rd party) on the discussion page and places a lot of "citation needed" tags in the article. Also he keeps the boxes on top of the article although the article changed completely and meanwhile HE seems to be the main author. Please get your own picture of that mess and help to make that article a good one (or at least a readable one). Benderson2 10:13, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
