just a note
[edit]I see you are starting a new article that you seem to be invovled in. To keep it from appearing as advertisment or WP: COI I would strongly suggest staying away from terms that read the the reader in first person. This will only lead to someone putting the article for deletion for nothing more than this reason. Thanks ♠ B.s.n. ♥R.N.contribs 19:57, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of "St peters, pedmore"
[edit]A page you created, St peters, pedmore, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how it is important or significant, and thus why it should be included in an encyclopedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and the guidelines for companies in particular.
You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.
Thank you. -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 20:23, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, I see that you placed a
{{hangon}}
tag onto the above article. What you need to do now (that in itself will not prevent deletion) is to leave a message on the article's talk page explaining why this church is notable according to Wikipedia's Notability Guidelines. Churches are not inherently notable (see De Facto Notability subjects - you will need to demonstrate that St Peter's is notable! -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 20:50, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with St peters, pedmore. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 20:59, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

St. Peter's, Pedmore
[edit]If you consider re-creating an article about the above church, may I suggest that you find information that indicates that it is notable according to the criteria that Wikipedia uses.
To be honest, I couldn't find anything online to indicate that St Peter's is notable. A search on Google News returned 28 hits, but none of them indicated notability - they reported events at like bring-and-buy sales, or funerals which were held at St Peter's.
I looked at the website (www.stpeterspedmore.org.uk, but didn't find any history, or anything. The Rector (Andrew Hazlewood) hasn't got an article on Wikipedia, and I couldn't find anything to indicate his notability according to the criteria we use on Wikipedia. The same goes for the Curate (Ian Jennings).
I assume that you are involved with the church, and quite naturally would like to see an article about it on Wikipedia. However, all articles follow the notability criteria mentioned above. For example, none of the churches that various members of my family attend throughout the country have entries, as none of them are notable on a global scale. Obviously, every church is notable to its congregation - but wikipedia is designed on a world-wide scale.
Please note that I mentioned not finding anything online. If you have offline sources (e.g. newspaper or magazine articles, books, etc), then you can cite them:
If you find a book, magazine, newspaper article, etc that you want to use as a reference, just type one of the following after the information in the article which the reference is about:
- Newspaper/Magazine article:
<ref>''Title of article'',author of article, (Title of newspaper/magazine, date of article, page(s), column(s))</ref>
- Book:
<ref>''Title of book'', author of book, (publisher, date of publication, page(s))</ref>
- Website:
<ref>[http://web-page-address ''Title of webpage''], author of page, date of page's creation, website name</ref>
For example:
- John Smith was appointed by the UN as an ambassador to Mars in June 1986.
<ref>''An article in a well-known newspaper'', John E. Beegood, (The New York Times, 1 August 1987, page 6 col 2)</ref>
- John Smith is regarded as a world expert on creating references.
<ref>''How do I create references?'', Met-al Icca, (Heinemann Publishing, 1964, pp. 16-17)</ref>
- While a known as a world-respected physicist, Smith is also a well-known skier who has participated in the Olympic Games representing Patagonia.
<ref>[http://www.a-reputable-website.org/a_useful_page.html ''How to Create Useful References''], PhantomSteve, 12 March 1999, a-reputable-website.org</ref>
Then at the bottom of the page, make sure you have the following two lines:
==References==
<references/>
-or- {{reflist}}
This would generate (for the above examples):
- John Smith was apointed by the UN as an ambassador to Mars in June 1986.[1]
- John Smith is regarded as a world expert on creating references.[2]
- While a known as a world-respected physicist, Smith is also a well-known skier who has participated in the Olympic Games representing Patagonaia.[3]

With basic references like this in place, more experienced editors can tidy them up! The hard bit can be finding references!
Please make sure you read the guideline Reliable Sources which details the kind of sources Wikipedia prefers to use.

Speedy deletion nomination of Matt dickson
[edit]A tag has been placed on Matt dickson, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. --Zvn (talk) 19:51, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
